I am gald that my mom has made it out of surgery. She is in pain from her back and I feel so bad for her. I feel horrible that I left my mother alone in the hospital. I came home today and started to cry for her. I feel like I've let her down by leaving her knowing she was in so much pain. I just hope she still loves me.

Nothing can make your mom stop loving you. The nurses will take good care of her. You can be a great support for her as she recovers and starts to feel better.

Tiffany, You know your mom loves you, honey!! It is normal to have pain and discomfort right after this surgery. I bet this morning she is already feeling better, and each day she will feel better and better. Just be there for her to take a walk with her and get her stuff she needs, for a few days it will be hard for her to get around, so help her out as much as you can...And remember you are right around the corner so you will know what to expect!!!  The more your mom can walk and sip on her water, she will feel better and better, just encourage her to do those things, ok?  (((HUGS))) Sweety... Carol

I had alot of back pain after surgery. Mostly because the morphin didn't do a thing. It was until they gave me something else that the pain got better. For the long run I would do it all over again and suffer through the pain. I am so happy with how things have changed since surgery and how my health has gotten so much better.

I agree with everyone else that your mom will still love you, besides there is not much you can do for her in the hospital where the environement is controlled by the nurses and doctors and staff.  Instead take this time to get the house ready for when she comes home.  Make sure that you have everything thing she will need to eat in the upcoming week and then rest so you are refreshed and ready to help her out when she returns home.  I know that I too had some back pain after surgery, but they will hopefully find a medication they can give her to help the pain.

Hello Tiffany. I am sure your mom still loves you. There isn't anything you can do for her up there. That is the nurses job.

Everyone has pain after surgery....she will be okay. Tell her congrats and welcome to the losers bench from me! Hugs, connie d
