I am an aggressive person.  And I''ve seen it done (and done it myself)..  I am the type of person who gets what she wants.  The next time you get ill, perhaps you should go to St Mary's ER (part of the Rochester Mayo program) and have them treat you..  Its an easy way to sneak into the system and if you are ill enough to be hospitalized, then you can start at the Mayo clinic  This does not take care of any referral problems you may have with insurance.  Mayo may not be the provider your insurance company pays for.  If you were visiting Rochester and got sick enough to go to an ER, they won't turn you away.  They cant.  They need to stabilize you and then transport you to another hospital if necessary.  That is the case to avoid larger out of pocket costs. Its a little backwards.  And it may not work for you.  Might be worth a try to speed things up.  PM me if you need me to explain this in greater detail.  (I work in health care - 20 years.  I know the tricks of the trade and understand insurance plans) KellyAnn

Thank you!  That is good to know.  Although, there are 2 new specialist (according to my one doc) who deal with such cases as mine at the U so I am hoping they get to the root of it.  But in the mean time I am getting on the waiting list for Mayo just incase. Hugs

Six months???  That seems a little excessive.  I had my RNY down there in 2005.  I started the process in 2004 and I did not have to wait anywhere near six months.  I think it was a month, or two at the most.  I was there for three days.  They run you through all the lab tests, x-rays, etc., and you stay in a hotel while you're there.  I interned there last month and I learned they see about 1,200 NEW patients each day (includes all Mayo system facilities - Rochester, Jacksonville, Scottsdale, and other various clinics), but I think six months is way too long for a first appointment.  I know that once you're in the system, though, you can get appointments rather quickly.  When I was there, I shortened my stay by a day (was almost 4 days) by getting my last test in because of a no-show.  You can often wait in a department to be fit in when there's a cancellation or no-show, but that's once you're there, not for your very first appointment.  I hope the U is able to figure out what's going on!

Thanks!  I am rooting for the U also!  Closer to home and not a week stay(that I am aware of anyway). Hugs!

Hey chica, that completely sucks!  Keep bugging them, call every now and then to see if they got any cancellations that they can move you up to.  Hopefully the U will be able to fix you up, though.  Any ideas as to when you will be able to get in there?  They have a pretty wonderful medical staff, too.

Hey Sweetie!  My PCP will be all over them trying to get me in sooner.  She is also tyring to get me in to the U ASAP.  She is such a wonderful Doc!  Thanks for the encouragement of the U!   Hugs!

Sorry to hear about just a crazy amount of wait time. I think if I was in your shoes I would be very frustrated.  I sure hope that all goes well and that you get an answer as soon as possible.

Wishing you all the best. I will send up some prayers for you.

God Bless, Angela

Wow... THAT'S not what you wanted to hear, eh?  Well, hopefully this is karma at work.  One of the U docs will figure it out and get you taken care of WAY before the Mayo could see you!   Sending you hugs and positive vibes, Sandie.  You deserve to feel FABULOUS!!!
