My therapist told me I need to start logging my food and I'm terrified what I'm going to see. But, I'm going to do it anyways.  Can you give me the name of a good website I can do this on? I always have skipped over those posts in the past.

Are you talking about fitday.com?

Farrah,

I started using Fitday.com but recently was introduced to the daily plate and I really really like it. It seems to have more common foods already there for you and is pretty easy to use...

here is a link:

Good Luck,

Hi Farrah, I used to use fit day, but now I do The Daily Plate. LOVE IT!!!  The dietician at my surgeons office suggested to enter in a weight about 10 pounds lower that your actual weight if you wanted to see how many calories you SHOULD be eating. That's not neccessary........just her suggestion since it tended to give a bit of a higher calorie allowance that SHE thought was appropriate for a person's current weight.  I, too, like the fact that daily plate has many foods by name brand. Lots' of Trader Joe stuff is already in there as well as other common brand names.  That's my 2 cents worth!! Pat

Thanks! I signed up at the The Daily Plate.  Unfortunately, I've already eaten about 1400 calories, and its not even dinnertime yet. This is what I was afraid of. And I've not had anything "bad" for me yet! This is going to be a very very long process...

Watch some of the food calorie counts and nutrition info on the Daily Plate.  They have wierd calorie counts and portions.     Yikes, 1400 calories before dinner.  I didn't think we could fit that many calories in our pouch.  Good luck, at least now you will understand what you need to do. Hi Bonnie - yep, 1400 calories is easy to do if you're a ways out....both Farrah and I are 3+ years post-op and it can be done fairly easily.  I still can't eat alot at one time, but can graze all day and can tolerate quite a bit of sugar. That's why maintenance can be a tricky time....

Thanks Lori. I ended up having almost 2100 calories yesterday. I've been in denial about how much I'm actually eating and it just makes me sick to look at the number. I guess we'll have to see how it goes.

Good luck Farrah - we are all in denial at one time or another...just don't beat yourself up too much or ride that guilt train.  Not worth it - take it one day at a time and remember it's just food and we all have to live in this world.  Remember where we came from and celebrate that.
