I am only one week post op and I found Edy's sugar free ice cream today at Target.  Today is my daughters birthday and I thought I would try it while the rest of them eat cake etc?  Is is okay? Robyn

Sorry sweetie, you are only one week out....is it on your Drs. food list?  Probably not. I wasn't even off of liquids at one week post op. It's probably high fat & carbs and all kinds of bad things. Don't open a can of worms and try things that are not on your list.

Robyn, Ditto to what Sandy said......... I didn't try SF ice cream till I was 4 months out and the sf alcohol made me dump. Stick to sf popscicles for a treat. Kelly

I have to agree with Sandie - probably not a wise choice.  Just let this be the first of many opportunities of being able to be strong and say no to something you really want.  You will thank yourself later.  Also, one thing to remember is that even if it's SF - you may dump from it anyway.  Sometimes people actually dump worse from the sugar alcohols that are used in place of the real sugar so you have to be careful even when you're out further from surgery. Good luck to you!

Just another thought. I would not try something new for the first time in front of a lot of people, esp at a party setting.

I agree with the others stay away from that stuff.... if you can tolorate frozen things already ( I couldn't do cold things for several weeks) add ice to a protein shake or your milk w/ SF CIB and put it in the bullet to create a "milkshake" if you really feel you must have something comparable to the cake and ice cream. Good luck!

I am 2.5wks. out and I wouldn't recommend trying such things at 1wk. but I have braved eating Kemp's Nonfat Frozen Vanilla Yogurt with no sugar added. That went well but not something I will try often.
