Thanks Jen!!   The doc and I discussed at length regarding the meno pausal aspects and such.  I think Im going to go for it and hope for the best.  There is always risk but something has got to be better than what I am dealing with every month..

No experience with ablation or an IUD to share, but I did have a total hysterectomy 4 years ago, BEST THING ever!  Granted I didn't think so at the time, but in hind sight-wish I would have had the option years ago!  Good luck to you (from a fellow 40 YEAR OLD!!!)  Lori

I had killer fibroids - tried the ablation and a number of other "fixes", but nothing worked - I ended up having my hystericalectomy at 40 and have never regretted it for a minute!  I figure I had gone through enough feminine products in the 5 years prior to make up for NEVER having to buy them EVER AGAIN!!!  (let me tell you, that realization ALONE was a party!)  Being that young, and having perfectly healthy ovaries, he left them alone - so I do still have the mild PMS issues & all, and will go through some kind of menopause some day, but to do so without the - uh... "physical evidence" of the monthlies?   A-MEN!!!

I guess we will start with the ablation and hope for the best.  I am looking forward to less flowage as it has become quite unbearable, uncomfortable and embarassing. Thanks Ms Darla..  Wish I could do coffee but me gots to work 11-4..

Good morning Dana,  I had the ablation, then had the Mirena IUD inserted soon after; just love the fact it's good for five years, which will literally get me through actual menopause. Neither was overtly painful, just a little discomfort. With the Mirena, I seldom get but minimal spotting not even monthly. I'd initially hoped the diagnosis would be serious enough to warrant vaginal hysterectomy without the 'C' scare, although all has turned out great.  Best wishes as you make your decision--my gynocologist made it for me, due to the serious urgency at the time.  Have a wonderful day!  And again, 40 isn't old--unless you're a tree!  Hugs galore, Patti
