SORRY TO THE FELLA's... Long story short been having some 'issues' that I have been going to the OB to try to correct, fix, make better....etc.   It has been decided that my options are getting an IUD or having an ablation.  Since everything I have heard about IUD's is BAD, I will go for the procedure. Anyone have this?  Are you happy with the results? Pros, Cons...?   We had spoke about the 'H' word however my uterus is healthy so she doesnt recommend that.  The only thing she did say that is implanted in my brain is.. "The reason you are experiencing what you are is due to AGE and being Peri-meno..."!!   HELLO...?!?!  Already feeling a bit down cause of turning 40 this year but dang could ya help a gal out...? ANYWOO  thanks for listening to my very OT question and if you have any knowledge to share, that would be great.. Happy Wednesday...!!

There is a bad rep with the older versions of IUD's.  I had one about five years ago and it worked like a charm.   I have also had an ablation and yes it hurt afterwards and didnt help due to my endometriosis. Hysterectomy was final choice. Not overly helpful but take from it what you can   :)

Although when I went into this whole thing my first thought was a hysterectamy as my mom and sister had to have ones in there 30's, however, they had bigger issues than I.   Thanks for your input..

Dana, I have a good friend who had the procedure. I know there was some discomfort, but since then her issues are fixed. I'd be glad to put you in touch with her..........via email. I'm having coffee with her today, so I'll at least ask. Let me know. Love ya, Pat

Sorry that you're having all these female 'problems, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. I was having problems with sporadic bleeding, then I'd bleed like a stuck pig for a week or two.  A yea ago I had the Marena IUS put in, and I haven't had any trouble at all, after 2 months for my bod to adjust to it. Greatest thing since CheezWhiz! (The only thing was is cost $350 and it wasn't covered by my drug plan. But I was able to claim that on income tax.  ) Being perimenopausal can really suck. Have a good day! (((HUGS))) **SUE**

Dana, I did it about 1½ years ago and it was the BEST thing I ever did.  Didn't completely solve all the issues, but made them SO much better.   I know the IUD has come a long way from our Mother's time and the gals on the OH preggo board could give you some advice on that if you are interested.
