Options for Liquid Diet
Hi Robyn, what worked for me during the pureed phase was to add extract flavorings to protein shakes: i.e., for vanilla CIB, or soy/skim milk: try adding either French vanilla extract, lemon extract, or try others, including lemon, raspberry, almond, peppermint for flavor variety. For cream soups, try addingeither Italian seasoning (excellent in tomato soup), poultry seasoning into cream of celery, mushroom, or chicken soups. One of my faves was adding it to cream of chicken soup--tastes like Thanksgiving dressing. Healthy Choice brand soups are great: my faves included the Italian wedding soup,bean/bacon (in the magic bullet to eliminate cny chunks), the split pea/ham as well.
What types of chips/dip you're craving could be incorporated through the modified soups as well: try adding fat-free sour cream to the afore-mentioned tomato soup variation. Or, try adding to cream of celery: dill weed and F/F sour cream. I never was into chips/dip, although would again be creative modifying what you're allowed to eat into the flavors of what you're craving. BBQ chips? Try adding BBQ spice rub to tomato soup. Sour cream/onion chips? Try Progresso canned onion soup with a little sour cream. The sugar-free Jello puddings were wonderful: chocolate fudge, banana, lemon, butterscotch, all of chich I'd added plain unflavored protein powder: cheesecake (with raspberry extract--yummo!) The banana is excellent, and has full natural banana flavor-- Hope you're you find some of these suggestions helpful as you bear in mind this is the crucial phase for implementing the life-style change. Best of the best to you as you proceeed along this amazing journey of progressive WOWs and self-discovery! Hugs galore, Patti
