I am lactose intolerant so I did SlimFast shakes....plus I like the flavors so I would have done that anyway. Check to see if you are allowed (I went through park nicollet) broth and sugar-free popsicles. Those will ultimately save you!! They give you the bit of sweet and the bit of salty you need. Also, the first two or three days (I am not sure how long your's is? Mine was 10 days) are the hardest..... lots of cramps and cravings (for me anyway).... then the stomach gets used to it. I was allowed 5-6 shakes per day and I only drank about 3-4. If you happen to lose weight on the LD, that's a great motivator too.

I did mine for three weeks. The first 3 days were the hardest, then it was easy. I stuck with High Protein Boost. I was only allowed three 1 cup liguid meals per day, so I stuck with the Boost. I did have tomato soup a couple of time. Like Elena said SF popcicles were a godsend! I also drank a lot of warm tea (it was cold at the time). Make sure you drink a lot of water type beverages.  I also chewed a lot of gum, didn'****ch TV (too much food porn), and kept my self busy so I wasn't thinking about food. Keep the end in mind, you'll do great! Good Luck!

A lot of people hate the LD.  I loved it.  My diet has never been more clearly defined for me, and I enjoyed that! A lot of people notice, as if for the first time, how many FOOD COMMERCIALS there are on TV!  Don'****ch TV.  Come here instead and keep reading profiles, looking at before & after shots, just plain motivating yourself to do exactly what you need to do! Give yourself a lot of positive self talk: "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" "One day at a time, we can accomplish any goal we set for ourselves" "By doing what needs to be done RIGHT NOW, we make the most of each present moment" I'M WORTH IT!   You can come up with bunches of positive messages to keep yourself focused on the prize, and take your mind off the LD. GOOD LUCK TO YA!   Come here if you ever need distraction, encouragement, support, or a good 'ol fashioned butt kickin'!!!  (given with love, of course...)

I agree with Elena check to make sure you can have sf popsicles and broth because they were my saving grace!  Just make sure with the broth you get one that tastes good some of them don't.  Also I could only handle chicken broth.  The first few days will be difficult as your body deals with it's cravings for carbs and solid food, but it will get better.  You have the advantage of it being nice out (I had mine end of November/beginning of December) so keep yourslef distracted enjoying the beatiful weather and as Darla said come here for lots of support and motivation!  Best of luck and remember the prize at the end is worth it all!  ~Nicole

Hi...good luck on the LD. I personally didn't mind it at all. My surgeon asked that we use Boost High Protein so that is what I did. Sugar Free Popscicles and broth was a must. I also had "Edys Sugar Free Fruit Bars ...they were awesome!! Much fruitier then Popscicles.  For broth I used "Better then Bouillon", chicken flavor. It come in kind of a paste and is really good. Not so salty like other bouillon. It costs more but the taste was worth it. The only other advice I have is to follow the LD and don't cheat. Do as your surgeon says and you will be just fine.
