I'm on my LD and had tomato soup for lunch, first I took 1/2 cup, I was still hungry, so I took another 1/2 cup, then I was full. So my question is, when you have soup how much do you eat?  Am I eating/drinking too much?  Kelly

LA,      Because of the carb monster........I just wanted to do a LD for a few days, just to get food out of my system and thoughts...........I want a break from eating food. See if that will get rid of the head hunger.     I'm taking the liquid 3 oz. shots for protein at 42g. a piece, so I won't be short on that. Kelly

Good for you then! I can eat one cup of soup... it slides so thats why.  But when I did the cottage cheese test half of a cup because of density. Remember just cos you can eat a cup doesnt mean you should..watch your cals and etc!

Good going on the LD and dedication Kelly.. Im proud of you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks LA,     You know it really hasn't been all that bad today.      I had yogurt for breakfast, tomato soup for lunch, the liquid protein  3oz. shot this afternoon, and for supper I'm having chicken noodle soup with added chicken.     I feel better now, I was thinking 1 cup was too much and I had stretched my pouch. Whew.     I walked on the treadmill twice today and did sit up's and worked out on the home gym for 1/2 an hour. I'm ready to do this and beat the carb monster.  Kelly

That sounds about right for me when I eat soup.  Obviously, it's a liquid and won't stay in your pouch anywhere near as long as solid food, that's why PNC discourages soups for the most part...  but if you're not eating it too fast, that would seem about right. Don't forget to compare this meal to a pre-op meal.  How many grilled cheese sandwiches would you have been dipping in that soup???   Also, have you ever heard of the "sigh factor"?  You don't need to eat until you're "full", only until you're  satisfied.  And your body will usually tell you when you are there, by way of a sigh, or a hiccup, or a drippy nose...  some signal that you're good to go!  I do actually sigh - and if I'm aware enough to notice it, that's when I stop.

i am only 8-days out but my food program is different and has me on soft textured foods (phase 2) already...

I ate Cream of broccoli soup from a can the other night and was more than satisfied with 1/2 cup. Is that too much this early? I ate slow and it took me a good 20min's to eat that 1/2cup.

Again today I had maybe 1/2 cup of corn chowder.

Your doing just fine.........I'm 4 months out and was slipping towards eating carbs again so I decided to go on a few day liquid diet, to get away from food..........1 cup seemed like alot to me, but I think I'm okay with having that much. Kelly

LOL - yes...tomato soup used to be a condiment for my grilled cheese sammiches!  I finally threw out the loaf of bread that I bought when I moved to my new apartment (almost a YEAR ago).  A loaf used to last me maybe two days!  I love how you always put things in perspective, Darla!
