I must be bad, bad. Barb called me this morning and said I needed some Vitamin D, if that is SOME I would hate to see alot. To top that off, Humana insurance med program doesn't cover it. So, I am worth 42.39 for me.  Question for ya, will vitamin D do anything for the bad mood I am in with anybody except Nemi??  I just want to tear people's head off and well you know the rest of the saying.  Thrying really hard not to miss any doses of lithium and depakote for the bi-polar but man this is really rough. I am seeing a therapist but feel like I have hit a semi face first. Time for some quiet, Karen

Karen, I can't comment on much here but just wanted to throw out www.vitalady.com because I've heard her site referred to many times, especially for Vit.D.

Good luck on getting that level back to where it needs to be, and hey, just maybe if you get everything under control, the overall mood will improve. I dunno for sure, but it's got to only get better from here, right?!

Hi! I was put on that same dosage of D after my first appointment with my surgeon. I took it 3 times a week for 3 months. I do think it made me feel better! Not 100% sure because of all the other vitamins that I started a couple weeks before that. I was told by my pharmacist told me that medicare is the only insurance that covers vitamins.  I did check out that vitalady site I wanted to cry! lol I paid $23 for 12 pills!  Hope you feel better!

Vit D and B12 can have a huge effect on mood/energy and depression symptoms - good luck.  I did high dose D before surgery and I felt a lot better

good luck

Everyone I live with is hoping it will help and FAST. I am way to easy to anger, hungry all the time but not gaining any weight. Live in a dark basement, gonna get my sun light out and hope that helps along with the vit D. Thanks, Karen

I agree with Amy, vitalady is the way to go.  Did Barb say how long to go on the 50,000 for?  I have been chronically low for a really long time, and have only recently cut back to 2-3 per week to keep my levels on the high side of normal. If you don't go through vitalady, remember you will need dry Vit D, those oil based capsules aren't absorbed.   That's the 411 Michelle (vitalady) gave me. Good luck

Hi Karen, I just had my visit with Barb too and took a look at my labs on their patient online system they have.  I'm at 21 for Vitamin D so I have a feeling I'm on the low side too.  You're not alone.  Read through this thread from the grad board.  It mentions the RX vitamin D and how it may be oil based.  I agree with Vitalady on using the dry form.  I'm already taking dry vitamin A and dry D and obviously my dosage wasn't enough.  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_grads/a,messageboard/a ction,replies/board_id,5491/cat_id,5091/topic_id,3607474/ You can also find dry vitamin D on iherb.com.  Vitalady's price for 100 small capsules of dry vitamin D 50,000 units is $23.74  http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&k ey=1070 Good Luck  - you're not the only one who is "D" deficient!
