So like I posted before I have a date!! June 24th... super excited... I have SO many clothes I want to wear! Since I have a date I've felt more comfortable telling people that I am having the surgery. People say NO WAY not you.... I would have never thought YOU'D be a canidate. My first thought is are we looking at the same person.. I need this to be healthier. Then the other part of me thinks, you don't need to be stroking my ego, I realize this is an issue for me and I need another tool. Perhaps I'm being too skeptical.... just something I've been encountering.

You'll encounter a lot of different responses.  Some will flatter you, some will **** you off.  My advice is to take it all in the most POSITIVE WAY you possibly can!  Use any and all comments to your advantage - to either congratulate yourself for your wisdom in deciding to do this, or to bolster your determination to knock this whole WLS lifestyle out of the flippin' ballpark!   Just don't let yourself dwell on the potentially negative thoughts or reactions.  Those of us who have dealt with our weight to the extent it brought us to WLS are pretty hard on ourselves, pretty quick to take the negative road without thinking twice.  Work on that, it'll serve you well.

I had the same thing about not you, you don't need surgery. Now people can't believe that I am slimmer that I am half the person I used to be. Congrats on your date!

Congratulations on your date! I only told a few people about surgery before hand for that reason but I have been pleasntly surprised at how supportive people have been. Don't let the nay sayers get you down. Be proud of yourself for taking control of becoming healthy :)

Sing it sister - I hear ya! Just know in your heart it's the right decision for you and if you are comfortable with it then you're ready. It's like my mama said about boys "you'll just know" when it's the right one, and dang if she wasn't right. LOL Congrats on your date BTW, I missed that post. sorry Very exciting!!!

Congrats on your date. I happen to love your surgeron as he was mine.  You are going to get so many mixed reactions about this surgery from others. Most of their reactions are due to being under educated about the process. You know what is right for you and that is truly all that matters. I choose not to tell to many people as mentally I was ready and in the right place. I really did not want others to even mess with what I was mentally prepared for.  Wishing you all the best on your journey!! June 24th will be here before you know it.  Best wishes.
God Bless, Angela

Oh please do tell me more about Dr. Benn and Fairview. I'm excited and anxious all at the same time. I've NEVER gone down sizes in outfits... I cannot wait for that!
