Update on mom
What I had told Tracy the other day was that mom is failing quickly. Currently she is not able to stand without two people assisting (and even that is tough). She is pretty much bed bound now. Her pain is increasing; but they are working on getting that controlled. It's getting more difficult to breath; but they increased her oxygen and that seems to work. I have been researching inpatient hospice care down there. I think I may post on the TN boards to see if I could get some advice on that.
It doesn't sound like hospice care down there is as great as it is up here. They promised help with getting prescriptions delivered (cuz dad can't just leave the house to pick them up); BUT they have not delivered on that promise. They also promised to look into respite care for my dad (volunteers come into the home and watch mom for a bit). BUT it's been TWO weeks and they have not told us anything about that. My sister (who has a family of her own) has had to stay over night there to help out. I am going to call hospice Monday to find out what's going on. I wish I could just drive to their office (that would take me 12 hours). I feel like I need to be there, but can't afford it. I am working on going down again the first week of June. The way things are sounding, I don't think she'll make it that long. Though, in the long run, that would be a blessing. She really is just existing right now. As hard as it is to say, I think it's time for her to go be with God. Thanks everyone for all your prayers. I think that God is listening. I appreciate you all and love you so much. You all have been so great. I am going to try to make it on this site to offer my encouragement as much as I can. But, I won't be on everyday. I hope everyone is doing just wonderful. I miss my OH peeps. We will have to do an outing once everything settles down. Right now I can only do spontaneous event (no planning in advance). Hugs and Love, Lori
