I was given a "sample" list from my surgeon's office on what I should be eating this first week...and its just SO much!!! I am afraid I am not getting enough protein? Mostly b/c I am so tired yet. Course as "luck" would have it I got my period today too!

need to do better on sipping water but I'm always so full or gassy I just can't!

Of course you're going to be tired -- you just had major surgery GF!!! Work on the protein but the water is the most important right now.  You have to stay hydrated, especially since you got your period too!!! And eating?  Seems fast but every program is different.  If you can't eat food, do protein shakes or protein water and kill two birds with one stone!!  We've all had the same struggle and you can do it!!  Just sip, sip, sip, literally....continually sipping little sips the entire day and you'll get the required water in. Good luck -- keep us posted.....

My first week and a half after surgery is all liquids.... I wonder why they have you on food already. Take it easy! Let everything heal!

Yeah...the post op first week program I am on they give us "TrePuree" meals made by Cambell's. It's a frozen tv dinner size tray with a pureed strip of meat, vegetable, and carbohydrate. I eat about a 1/4 of a tray at each meal, which is hard, I usually dont' get to the carbs.

Other than that, the diet is protein shakes to add grams of protein, and milk and yogurt for extra protein as well. it seems the sheet they gave me has me drinking or eating something every hour! Ugh! But I don't, I can't! I sip my water but not as often as I should. I'm just trying really hard to get in as much protein in one sitting as I can to keep my strength up and water to not get dehydrated.

I was in the ER 2-wks. before surgery with dehydration so that could be contributing to this post op feeling as well.

Any other first week post op advice would be helpful!

I just had my surgery Tuesday.  I am so tired.  I go for a walk a few times a day and come home and take a nap.  I am on full liquids for 4 weeks after surgery.  Seems all I do is drink water and boost.  They want me to start off on 2 bottles of  boost a day right now.  At least 1 oz an hour of boost or more.  Just remember we just had major surgery it wil take our bodies awhiel to adjust.  I also feel really gassy but the water has helped me pass it and makes me feel better.  I have been getting about 60oz of water in the last 2 days.  I am not adventerous enough yet to try any other liquids yet.  I am scared of them not agreeing with me.  PM me if ya want to chat.
