Revision of RNY due to Weight Gain

I am new to this site and have found it to be the only one with some answers since I have been searching the internet trying to find some answers as to...how a revision is done, who can do it, who has gone through it, and has any ones insurance covered such a surgery, plus so many more questions...... Here is my story. In all honesty I cannot remember how many years it has been since I had my RNY surgery, but it has been more than 6 years and all was great until the last 2 years.  With-in that time I was in a horrible accident and ended up having multiple surgeries one in which has cut a never for my taste bud on the left side of my tongue.  So after that surgery I was been having some difficulty because I like the taste of food and texture and my weight has increased more than 60pounds in search of trying to taste what I was eating.   I am looking for someone to chat with that has gone through it and who has some insight as to what steps to take to go through it. Thanks for any help you can give me. Sydney

You might want to check out the revision forum here and I'd like to invite you to the Duodenal Switch forum - we have a few RNY revisions there that can help answer questions!!

GOOD LUCK to you - what a terrible thing to have to deal with....we are all here for you!

I, too, would recommend the revision forum.... I haven't been there myself but I am sure there are probably some experience people there that you can speak to. Good luck!

I agree with the others especially Peach...check out the revision forum and the DS forum too.  I had a revision 16 months ago,  RNY to RNY, I would have had the DS if my insurance covered it.  I am sure there have been some changes since you had your surgery so make sure you check out all of your options Welcome to the MN board
