I think what everyone has said is true this is so normal.  From what I've seen of you on this board the past few weeks you seem very determined to make a lifestyle change.   I think you are going to do great!!!

Hey Elena!   I was at that same meeting last night ... and what I took away was that even those people that had difficulties would make the SAME decision again.  They didn't regret anything.  I'm only a couple of weeks out so I don't have a lot of experience yet, but I'm choosing to focus on the positive ... even on the message boards here, I'm at the stage where I need positive re-enforcement so I try to stay away from posts that might make me second-guess myself.  Not realistic maybe (but I like this little bubble I sometimes live in!!).  I love reading about and hearing about the successes - I want to be one of those!!!!!!!! You're in the middle of, in my opinion, one of the hardest parts of this whole thing - the pre-op liquid diet!!  At about day 6 of my pre-op diet, I also had a little meltdown - I was tired, I was hungry, I wondered if I was doing the right thing.  But after a good cry, a big hug from my DB (darling boyfriend), and a good nights sleep - life was much better!!   Keep your chin up ...  LeAnne

!!!  Windbag Warning !!! HONEY (I hope you don't mind when I call you "honey", but you are so darn young, you bring out the "maternal" in me!  ), coming here to share your anxiety is an EXCELLENT WAY to deal with it!  I'm sure by the time you read MY post, you're already feeling quite reassured.  But because it's a little slower than normal here at work, I'm gonna throw MY pep talk into the hat. This is the BEST TIME IN YOUR LIFE to put yourself above all others!  As fat people, we tend to try to put everyone else first - take care of them, give whatever they need, whatever we can do to put ourselves in the shadows so we can go unnoticed.   But you've realized that it's time to take care of YOU!  And that means doing your research, jumping through the various hoops we all have to navigate on our way to our surgery dates.  And you are ALMOST THERE!    WOO HOO!!!   It's NORMAL to fear that you will be the one person that fails.  You have to decide you won't be that person. It's NORMAL - especially during the LD - to think, "Gee, I could do this without surgery!  If I just keep up this LD long enough to lose a whole mess of weight..."  You have to look back at your history of failed attempts, at the research you did about how WLS works, and remind yourself that you're doing this to make a PERMANENT, LIFELONG CHANGE in your relationship with evil FOOD! YOU are your priority.  Don't fret over other people's reactions - they haven't stood in your shoes (OR your ankle boot!    sorry, I just couldn't resist!  ).   If you want to, take the time to give them the Reader's Digest condensed version of the WLS education you've given yourself.  If not?  Just smile with the confidence of knowing you've made the right decision for YOU, and that they just don't get it.    The day will come - VERY SOON!! - when your weight loss will make believers out of everyone with an open mind!   And I'm 178% serious when I say - if your schedule has you home during the day and you want to chat over the lunch hour (anywhere between 11-2 tomorrow or Monday, or whenever AFTER your surgery), I'm right up the road from you.    ** hugs **

as your surgery-date-sister

trust me when I tell you - freaking out is NORMAL! LOL

While I don't doubt my decision, the normal fears are there and I am crying VERY easy these days......

I even tried to write letters to my kids - well, I got one sentence down to my oldest - lost it completely and gave it up LOL I cannot do that!!!

So I found a coupla things I wanted to say but were already written for me and will use those - I'm lame.....

after my surgery - I will give them the letters personally :)

let's hang in there girl!!!  AND If you wanna talk - pm me - I'm here for you!

Elena, I remember that roller coaster ride very well.  The highs and the lows, should I, shouldn't I.  I wish I could give you a huge hug and make all the fear go away.  Hon, you'll be fine and you'll success.  We aren't perfect, we don't follow all the rules, we're human!  Allow yourself to live, but live for your LIFE.  Being on the fat track is ending your (our) lives....having the surgery is giving us our lives back.  Yes, there will be pitfalls, but be kind to yourself, pick yourself up and move on with a positive, happy, and healthy attitude. You can do it!!!
