Some perspective

I shared with some of you some of the reasons I was so down in the dumps last Friday.  Seriously, it was one of the "downest" days I can remember (if that wasn't a word before, it is now  ) Aside from the rest of my list of stresses, I recently lost a friend/co-worker.  One of the most upbeat, happy, energetic people I've ever known - she did SO MANY THINGS in her life that I can only DREAM of, like traveling and living in Alaska, kayaking and skiing in Scandanavia, dog sledding in northern MN, too many adventures to list.   Eleven days ago, she took her own life. I have known 3 other people in my lifetime, mostly around my college days, that took their own lives.  And with each one of them, after the fact it was possible to look back and think, it wasn't such a big surprise.  There were signs that their lives weren't what they wanted them to be, they were unhappy, you name it.   This woman absolutely shocked me, and everyone else that knew her except MAYBE her immediate family. Tonight after work, I went to her visitation.  Her funeral will be tomorrow.  There were dozens of pictures of her adventures, her family, (hubby and 3 daughters), many of the beautiful places she had been during her 49 years of life.   On the cover of her little memorial folder was an anonymous quote that I want to share here.  I think it is very deep, very meaningful - for WLS people, for anyone, for everyone.  It essentially defines my reason for doing some of the more outrageous, scary things I've done in my life, and it reminds me why I will always make the most of the opportunities life presents me. "When you die, God and the angels will hold you accountable for all the pleasures you were allowed in life that you denied yourself."

Darla, I'm sending you hug vibes right now!   I'm so sorry for your loss.  It's so sad when someone feels the only way to a better life is to take this one.  That quote was beautiful and a reminder to us all that we need to start living our lives today, not once we reach goal, not once the kids are grown, but today.  We've spent so many years in hiding and missed out on so much already. Love to you my dear friend, Debi

I hope you remember the good memories of your friend. She left this world because she was in pain, it will be terribly hard for those she left behind, both family, friends and co-workers.  I went through this myself with a co-worker many years ago and it is still vivid in my mind, I will never forget the surviving spouse at the funeral. Please know that you are loved and that was a beautiful quote.

Oh honey....I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO Sorry to hear about this.  What a horrible thing to deal with.  Honestly, it really is the worse way to go for those left behind.  I have been through this and have in the past made a decision to do it myself.  You my dear are in my thoughts and prayers as you walk this rocky road.  I pray God will bring you comfort and heal your heart.   This quote is wonderful and words to definately live by.  Thank you for sharing and if you need to talk, call me.  I'll pm my number.
Hugs And Kisses Pam
