Thank you....I feel much better now!
Thank you to everyone who helped me when I was feeling so bad about my splurge last night up at my parents' house. I came back home this afternoon and went around both Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles which I believe is about 6 miles in 1 hour 35 minutes out of which 1 hour was spent doing intervals of 2 minutes jogging 3 minutes walking. Suprisingly i felt really good after I was done. I am combining two different training programs one for the marathon in October and the other is called "Couch to 5K" and helps you get to the point of being able to run a 5K in 1/2 and hour. I found the second program by referral of the lovely people in the Exercise/Fitness Forum here at OH.
I picked up a snack on my way home today that satisfied my craving for chocolate and is pretty healthy. It is made by South Beach Diet they are Dark Choclate Fudge Covered Wafer Sticks-Hazelnut Creme...1 serving is 2 sticks 100 calories, 6 grams of fat, 10 Carbs (3 dietary fiber, 1 sugar, 3 sugar alcohol) and 5 grams of protien. There are five packeges of 2 in the box so I will have them on hand when I get that really strong craving for something chocolate and then I won't have to feel guilty. This is especially good because I am going to my sisters next weekend for Mother's Day and need something to help keep me on track. I hope everyone has a good week this week, hopefully we will have more sunshine and warmer weather than last week! Love & Hugs! Nicole
Thank you! I think I need to be more open with my family about my struggles because I really only share my triumphs with them and not my struggles and so in a way I isolate myself when I am with them. I think starting this week when I struggle I will share that with them and hopefully this will help me break my secretive eating and isolation. I have to remember that habits take time to unlearn and it took me 28 years to get to the point I was at when I had surgery so why should it all change over night or even in 5 months. I remember some one at one of the coffees saying that you have to think about it as if you are only that many years/months old. I am determined to learn and grow from my mistakes. Love & Hugs! Nicole
Wow! I can't wait to be able to walk that much! Way to go!!
Make sure you tell your surgeon the truth about snacking, at only 4 1/2 mths out you should not be snacking. My surgery was 4 yrs ago and my Doctor really stressed the importance of changing your eating habits now as after about 2yrs your appetitie will increase and what your pouch will hold about the amout of a water bottle. I have daily struggles now with hunger and some days it really troubles me what I am able to eat. Really use this time to loose as much as possible as after 2yrs the average person will go back up about 20 lbs and then level out. Try loading on water when you get the snacking urge and wait 15 minutes/
