New name, new me!
I always hear people talking about their surgery day being their new "birthday." I can understand why.... the closer I get, the more excited I get, and I am so happy to share my birthday with my forum friends. I couldn't ask for anything better.
In the spirit (or just a coincidence), I have decided to change my name. It's a tiny change. It will be Elena instead of Yelena. Why? Because that's how you spell it in Russian. And mostly, because I am sick of being called Yolanda. Especially this week.... I was called Yolanda MORE than my actual name. People just seem to see the Y, L, N, A and figure it says Yolanda. Anyone else have this name problem? Anyway, it'll take some getting used to for me, especially considering that my published articles will now have a little bit of a different BYLINE, but oh well. Out with the old, in with the new!!

You go for it! It's a gorgeous name either way :)
Oct 30th is my re-birthday... tell folks I"ll be celebrating and then the "re-birth" part gives me an opening to explain if they want to know :) Also went out and bought myself a re-birthday gift :) A pretty little ring :) so I can look and remind myself :) and what the heck! *I* am worth it! lol
*hugs*
I repeatedly get asked if I am Russian...
My name gets pronounced and spelled every which way you could ever imagine and then some. I personally don't think it's too difficult of a name. Because of this I used to hate my name, now I have grown to like it.
You'll have to tell me today at coffee how you plan to pronounce Elena, there are different ways.

I'll be there!!
Ya know what, Elena? By the time you reach your one year re-birthday, YOU are gonna need some kind of protective device! Mace, pepper spray, a machete, whatever - because your already exotic beauty will REALLY EXPLODE, and the guys will be following you around like puppies!!!
Good lord... I just realized you are exactly half my age. I COULD BE YOUR MOTHER!!!
... I think I need some Geritol...
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
You are making me blush. I honestly never thought of myself that way so this is a new feeling for me. I have always concentrated on my fat and not really my beauty as a whole.
On the topic of age... I guess I am young enough to not know what Geritol is...... just kidding. :-)
See! You get it! That's exactly it! I love my name... but when no one can pronounce it the way it is spelled, what's the point? :-)
