Well, I have been talking with my doctor and she feels that I am a good candidate for WLS. She is now working with her referral people at the office and trying to get me an early referral so that I can get the ball rolling quickley! I am so excited and feel blessed to have such an amazing doctor. I have never had a doctor like her. She is filled with empathy and compassion and treats me with dignity, I can't say that for a lot of my doctors.... Anyhow, I really want to get committed to this journey, so I have decided to try and lose as much weight as possible now. I would like to add protein supplements so that I can get use to them also. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Blessings to you all, Candess :)

Congrats on your journey.   It is a exciting ride.   I just got my date Wed. for 05/29/08.  My process went really quick.  I really believe that God is in the mist of this.   Any how, I am in the process of finding out which protien shake to use, sorry I can not be much help there.  Hold your Dr. close when you find them like that they are jewels.  I see your picture there and you are beautiful.   Well, keep us posted here on your journey.  Everyone here are awesome!!!  Have fun!!

Congrats on starting to make changes now and on getting things started with your WLS journey.  It sounds like you have a very rare find in your doctor, I would definitely keep her!  I have not found any of the mainstream protien shakes that I like because I can not stand the smell of them, however most of the protien powders out there are whey protien so I have purchased some soy protien powder and am planning on trying it this weekend to see if it is better.  The protien powder I purchased is from the Linden Hills Co-Op and is organic as well.  I hope you are able to find something you like.

A month before my surgery (which is May 13th) I started on WW. I have lost almost 10lbs so far (haven't updated my ticker yet). I just wanted to get started on the process and following the rules before it was forced upon me.

Candess - did you get your insurance policy to know what the requirements are? I might have missed a post about that...sorry if I did. Your doctor does sound wonderful, that is awesome! As for protein supplements, you really should focus on protein foods as most programs have you eating a high protein, low carb diet anyhow. Most programs want you to "eat" your protein vs. just drinking it or supplementing. If you're protein loading before surgery for recovery purposes, the above thoughts do not apply obviously. You are asking great questions, keep going!
