Any MN VSGr's??

Well, I have done lot's of research and I am really impressed with the VSG stats. I would love to hear from anyone who has had. Any advice you can give, Surgeon info...anything!! Also, would like to know if it was easy getting insurance to approve this surgery. I just started my insurance plan, I have General Assistance Medical Care through the state and I have chosen UCare.....I hope I a made a good choice... Thanks so much!!

Hi i had the VSG done and i love it. I went to Mexico for mine. Any questions about it I can try to answer them.

WOW! I am curious why you went to Mexico?? Could you not find a surgeon here who would do it or was it an insurance issue? I have heard that some insurance companies don't approve this particular surgery, I hope that is not the case with me. When did you have your surgery and what do you love about it? Thanks for your help!

Well I went to Mexico cause I didn't want to wait any longer. All the bs that they put you through here before you can have any surgery. I do know that the two doctors at Merit Care here in Fargo are training on doing the sleeve now and I did not want to wait so I called Dr. Joya asked how soon I could get in they said right after you do a two week preop diet I said I'll start tomorrow and made my date 16 days from that. I had it done on 2-1-08 I have lost 72lbs so far I have around 100 to go. I picked Dr. Joya after reading about him from others that have gone to him. The hospital there was great along with the nurses and doctors.
Why the sleeve is great is because I can eat any type of food if I so desire. I don't have to worry about dumping, taking extra vitamins for the rest of my life, having my intestine rerouted.
There are more and more people getting approved with having the sleeve with ins now. Stop by the VSG board here and check us out. You will find a lot of great info there and if you have any questions just give me a pm and I will try answer them for you. Steve
