Is anyone on Zoloft after surgery or did you stop taking it? I am just figuring out which medication I might be stopping once I have surgery. Thanks!
You usually won't stop your anti-depressant after surgery, because it can actually get worse after surgery because one of your coping mechanisms is taken away. I agree with Farrah that you want to make sure you are not on anything that is extended or slow release if you are then you will need to work with your pcp or psychiatrist to figure out how to adjust them. I went from taking a slow release to taking two doses, one in the morning and one in the afternoon (Welbutrin not Prozac). Another thing to keep in mind is that some people have increase their dose after surgery because of the malabsorption. I hope this helps.

yuck.. i have a hard time just taking it.. crushing it sounds horrible. i hope to be off it soon, but not counting on it quite yet!
I still take my zoloft and probably will forever. For some reason I had the hardest time swallowing this pill after surgery and crushing it made me really sick to my stomach and it was only this pill all my other medications I could tolerate. If you run into this just work with the pharmacist and your dr they were some alternatives that I had to use until I could handle swallowing the pill.
