Back Home and Feeling Blue

I still have occasional "what have I done moments" and I am 10 months out  Most of the time it is when I am looking at my self after a shower (note to self, NO MORE MIRRORS IN THE BATHROOM). But then I put my clothes on and I feel a little better. The mind games are the hardest part. Just think, you aren't hungry for the food, but your mind says, I remember that that tasted good. This surgery is such a hard ride. We go through months of excitement, frustration, depression, and nervousness, and that is just the Pre-WLS stage. Nobody warns you of the Post-WLS stuff, the let down that always comes after a big event. But then the weight loss kicks in, the inches fall off, and you start to feel better. Then the skin comes.... but ya know what? It is so worth it I tell everyone, even if I knew that all the bad things that happened to me would still happen, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It will get better, and if it doesn't, make everyone eat in the backyard for a few months, it's getting warmer now!!

Hang in there!  The worst part of this was the 2 weeks after for me and I was so angry that I couldn't eat.   I think this will be a rough patch BUT once you get back into your routine things will get better and the weight will fall off and you will start to feel a lot better.

Oh honey....it's all overwhelming right now and the regrets are the hardest - but believe me give it a few more weeks and YOU will appreciate what you've done. As far as the food thing goes - people have NO idea how hard it is to see food.  I remember that my Sister's family seemed to eat CONSTANTLY when I was around them, with no regard that I couldn't eat basically anything.   It DOES GET BETTER.  Take one day at a time honey - the first few weeks/months are the hardest - but you are strong and you WILL get through it.  Do yourself a favor - whenever it's mealtime in your house, make the decision that that's when you are going to get out of the house and take your walk - it's starting to get nicer out and you need to walk anyway. Good luck and hugs!

Hey Cher: It was good to talk to you this morning.  Evelyn emailed me asking if I had heard from you - I just gave her a quick overview of our conversation this morning and left it at that.  She said to tell you that she has thought about you a lot over the weekend..... I can imagine that its tough for you right now but...........remember the prize, and remember to just breathe....take a nice long deep breathe, exhale and tell yourself that you are stronger then the urge you have to eat....you can do it.........you maybe my little sis but I sure do look up to you A LOT!  Love you so much and if you need ANYTHING, I am just 5 mins or so away.

Everyone has already said it all, but I wanted to add my "Welcome Home Loser"! Cheri - keep your chin up & remember the benefits long term will outweigh this short term feeling. Come to the board frequently for support, it's what we are all here for!
