I made it! Psych Complete

Yay, another requirement to cross off my list! Today I met with Lana (who BTW IMO is the BEST at understanding WLS, I highly recommend her!) for the final time pre-op and it was a real great meeting, as usual, with her. Lana required 3 sessions in order to complete the testing (MMPi, etc.) and initial visits for surgery recommendation, but because I had the time to wait, I made the decision to keep seeing her. We did a lot of figuring out how my obesity came to be, identified some key areas I need to keep check on after surgery, and overall she taught me just a ton about the disease of obesity and how to manage it. I really am so thankful to those of you on here that raved about her because I sought her out due to your high praise of her. She was not on my surgeon's list, but I contacted my insurance and she was covered, so I had verified in the beginning with Dr. Buchwald's office that if i went to her, it would count and I remember the answer was "Yes, absolutely!". whew It feels great to have another requirement completed and I know for sure now that I am even more prepared for post op life than ever. Now, it's down to 2 NUT visits (5/9 and 6/2) and then it's off to insurance for approval. But, I'm optimistic with all the recent DS approvals we've had in Minnesota this month! Rock on peeps!

WaHoo!  That is great it must feel good to be so close!  It is great that there are some good therapists out there *****ally understand WLS and disease of obesity.  It is one area I am interested in when I finish up my degree.   Love & Hugs, Nicole

Nicole ~ thank you! Yes, it does feel good! Keep your eye on that sight because it's definitely an area where more therapists are needed, how awesome that you are heading in that direction. You will surely help many and no doubt the first-hand experience will be invaluable. Best wishes!

It sure does, Michelle! And you're right, glad that lovely test is over with. How many ways can they ask the same dorky questions, eh?! LOL

  Congrats on the completed pysch evaluation isn't great to be done and over with that and it will certainly great to hear when you've been approved and have your surgery date. Take Care and Best Wishes, Erika
