Newbie in Duluth

Hello- My girlfriend just told me about this site and about all the great support here. I have been to the informational meeting. And I am looking for any advice you can give me on my journey. Does anyone know if Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield pays for Bariatric Surgery?? I am getting married in May and that is the insurance that my fiance has. I look forward to getting to know all your success stories.

Welcome to MN OH!!! Congrats on your journey AND and upcoming wedding!! woohoooo!!! As far as insurance coverage, ask your fiance to call the insurance company to ask for their coverage and guidelines in WLS. Best to you!

Great to see another Duluthian here!!! I am in West Duluth. I had my surgery almost 3 1/2 yrs ago. Not sure about your insurance but as Sandy said might be easiest to just give them a call and see what they cover. Which hospital are you going through? I went through SMDC but my husband works for St Luke's now so I'm familiar with both. It'd be great if you could come to coffee....we have a great group. I had my surgery...14 months later got pregnant. I had lost 105 lbs....gained back 45 (woops) but lost it all within a month of delivery. I am still at about the 105 lbs and sooo much healthier. I also have a sweet 18 month old baby girl as a result of my wls. Can't wait to meet you sometime.
