Confused
Hi this is my first time on the board. I joined because a nurse I saw at the doctors yesterday reccommend it. The best thing is it wasn't even a nurse in the weight loss surgery clinic. I'm feeling frustrated and I was wondering if others have had this experience as well. I met with a dietian a few weeks ago and have been changing my diet dramatically. I don't drink pop, I have oatmeal every morning and so on. According to the scale I gain 3 pounds! How is that possible? Perhaps I need to give it more time and I need to get working out too... Any thoughts? I really want and need to lose this weight before surgery!
The MN Board is usually quite friendly but I'm going to be honest here with you and tell you that if you post and you don't have an avatar picture and nothing in your profile, you may get little return. If you're not sure how to add a picture, etc. just post a new topic and seek help. This board is great for that and many will be right there to explain how to do that.
Aside from that, congratulations on taking the first steps towards a healthier life! That is the single most important thing you can do for yourself and those that love you.
When we don't lose the amount of weight we think we should in the timeframe we expect, we do get frustrated. No doubt! But, when you push through and really start to understand your body and your disease of obesity, then you will see the changes occur that you are desiring. Be patient and keep working with that dietician as long as you feel he/she is a good fit for you.
Hope that helps, and please, keep posting! This board is invaluable with the information and resources it can provide!
First of all ~ Welcome!
It is ok to be confused and know that stress will also make you gain weight. Changes in your diet can make you gain at first because your body goes "WHOA... What's happening here?" It will hold on to everything you give it because it doesn't know what is happening. But give it time. And sometimes the scale is showing muscle growth (Which is VERY good) while you might be losing fat. This happens when you start to exercise.
How much weight are you trying to lose before surgery?
