My Poor Hair

As of today I'm 4 months post-op and have lost 84 pounds, which I am completely thrilled about. But, the one things that doesn't make me too happy is the amount of hair that I'm losing every day. For just over a month now I've been losing a fairly good amount of hair everyday, and it is getting to the point where now if you look at my scalp, you can notice that it is really thinning out. I'm wondering what all you guys have been able to do to slow down any hair loss you've experienced? I have really long, fine hair, that goes down to my waist. My mom has suggested getting my hair cut, hoping that perhaps shorter hair won't weigh so much and help keep too much from falling out. Any other suggestions??

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve my best.

Honestly, I think everyone here has lost some hair that has had surgery.  It's just going to happen.  I made sure I really pushed the protein.  I only lost it for 2-3 weeks if I remember right.  But I was really concerned at one point, when it first started coming out, it was tons!  I know there are some that took or take Biotin.   I've heard that getting your hair cut shorter and dying it a lighter color helps conceal it thinning.   Take heart in the fact it will come back.

Hair loss is normal.  Mine is just starting to slow down, it's been a couple of months.  My hair dresser said she sees some new growth starting.  FINALLY!  I take 5000 mcg biotin daily - won't stop the loss, but is supposed to help new growth come in stronger and thicker, plus I have great nails now!  And I use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner - very pricy, but a bottle lasted me from December to last week.  (I use it 4 times per week and regular shampoo the rest of the time)  It helps hair to look thicker.  I got my hair cut short, which also helps it look thicker. Push the protein and water.  It's going to happen, but everyone keeps assuring me it'll grow back. Debi

Be patient.  This is just a part of the process.  Some people have it worse then others.  Just crank your proteins as hair is made of protein and for the first how many weeks/months we didn't have much protein.  Biotin can help.  Nioxin can help(I still use it) but losing some is just going to happen.  THe good news is that some will grow back if you focus on protein. Hope that helps! HUGS!

We have realy close surgery dates. And I have been having the same problem. From what I hear it is what it is. I'm hoping it will slow down soon.
