I made this tonight and just had to share.  Can't remember if anyone else has ever posted it. 16 oz. Fat Free Cottage Cheese 3 oz. SF Jello 16 oz. no sugar added fruit, drained 4 oz. Cool Whip 1/2 c. chopped pecans Add dry Jello to cottage cheese and stir.  Add fruit. Fold in Cool Whip.  Add nuts to top of salad.  Let stand 15 minutes in fridge.

I used orange jello and mandarin oranges. And I always make the Calorie Control Whipped Topping (SF and low-fat).

Oooo, that sounds yummy!  Darn it all to pieces I just finished posting that I am going to try to cut out sugar and just eat natural sweetners.  Sometimes I get so conflicted in what I want to do.  I am going to share this recipe with my mom though, she loves these types of recipes!

I think it's fine Nicole - the only thing sugary I guess is the cool whip but you could go with the light version or fat free.  Everything else is sugar free.  I would eat something like this because its a good alternative to other things.  I cut much of my sugar out of my diet but not all and I do take a taste once in a while but because I cut it out so much, I don't crave it like I did before surgery.   Splenda is my friend! lol Someone once told me that sugar is actually a link away from being a drug like crack or cocaine.  I really don't remember how it was worded but it made so much sense because since I've cut it down so considerably, I rarely crave sugary junky stuff.   But before surgery when I was a full fledged sugar eater, I could binge on it and I would crave it and HAD to have it, kwim?  It is a very freeing feeling! Thanks Michelle!  I have been thinking about trying to do the all natural thing and not even use Splenda, but the more I think about it the more I realize how much I would have to cut out of my life like Crystal Light, and so many other foods that we don't even think about that have sugar in them (spagetti sauce, granola bars, peanut butter).  I tried going to OA-HOW (Overeaters Anonymous) and they required that you cut out all sugar including things like honey and agave nectar and natural sweetners.  I remember shopping then was a nightmare and took almost 2 hours to figure everything out.  I didn't last long in that program, but am curious to see just how disciplined I can be.  We will see how things work out between me and artificial sweetners.

You're so right about sugar being almost a drug.  Heroin addicts use sugar when they can't get a fix.
