Mayo Clinic
A friend of mine did go through Mayo. She is 5 years out, but it was a long process for her too. She had to wait for 2 years. But I'm sure things have changed over the years though. There are more surgeons now, so I'm sure the waiting period is less. If you have questions I can always ask her and get back to you.
Thank you so much. Where was she from and could you ask her if she knows of others who have had it done and see if the waiting is still so long. Like I mentioned to you earlier in one of my posts, this is all new to me yet, and this Friday I have my first of 12 sessions with the nut dr. I am amazed at how long this procedure is compared to some others on the board. Thanks again- AND, may I ask, how are you doing with your liquids?
Oh no, That is very discouraging news. I did so well last week, Mon-Fri on eating proper and over the weekend I gained 3 pounds. I just can not do this on my own and if I wait 1-2 years for this, I will be 400 pounds. But, if I could win the lottery, I could quit work and go elsewhere and have it done faster- boy, do I live in a dream world or what

Hi,
I am originally from Rochester. I also looked into the mayo clinic. However with everything they require (The process is MUCH longer then any other I've heard of.) and they are still about 1.5 to 2 years out. Personally I figured out it was cheaper and easier to drive to La Crosse to Gunderson Lutheran for mine. From the first informational seminar to surgrey was 6 months. They have a great staff there.

I no longer live in Rochester, I now live in the twin cities. I had my surgrey 14 months ago today. I have lost 111lbs. and still losing. I understand wanting to stick to a medical center you've been going to... but one thing to keep in mind, many of the nurses and such at mayo that have had this surgrey have went elsewhere. I personally know of 3. That says something. I had Laproscopic RNY.
OMG- even the nurses went elsewhere? That IS a shocker. I am amazed at all the weight these people on this forum have lost. I am so envious. I want it now, but I realize the waiting process. Did you work at the Mayo when you lived in Roch? Normally it's either Mayo or IBM. Did you have a hard time adjusting to your new way of eating after surgery?
