Encouragment needed. Steel toed boots need not apply :)
I am about 4 months out from surgery due to a huge waiting list in my area and I keep having the last meal feeling. I have not been on track with the Practicing the better eating habits, the mindful eating , slowing down and trying to not over eat ,no exercising .I know I can start now and start my better habits that will just help more when I have the surgery but I have needed a kick in the arse.. I have been really hard on myself about this and really needed to own up to myself . I just needed to reach out and get some encouragment. So any kicks in the arse are welcomed. Steel toed boots need not apply!!!

::kick:: haha jk! you know that i am here for you. i have the same thoughs sometime.. so i have no words of wisdom. sounds like we will be going to surgery within a couple of weeks of eachother. i hope you got out for a walk today.. it's beautiful out! pm me if you need anything!
I won't kick you....It's good that you are reaching out. If you gain too much weight, you could lose your spot for surgery. That is what my surgeon told me, he said that if I went on an eating frenzy and gained any weight he would not operate on me. The fear of not getting the surgery helped me to stay on track, then about a month before surgery, I was so scared of all the changes I was going to have to make and of the surgery itself, that I lost almost 20lbs in that one month. I found that I could not eat, I was so nervous. I never had a last meal, or my last ice cream from Cold Stone, or any of the other things I imagined having prior to surgery. I have not regretted not having a last meal. I am so happy with my surgery results, not just the weight loss, but the health benefits have been amazing!
Do you have any co-morbidities? Imagine how you will feel when you are no longer insulin dependent or on any diabetes meds at all (ME!!!), no more sleep apnea machine, no more cholesterol meds.
You will get motivated, don't beat yourself up right now. Maybe try changing one thing at a time, one per week instead of saying I have to do it all NOW. Each Monday start something new. Maybe start with no liquids 1/2 hr prior to a meal, during a meal and for 1/2 hr after the meal. That was the first one I started with, then I went with chewing, then eating more protein, then taking vitamins, I didn't even start exercising until AFTER surgery (but if you get motivated, I recommend doing the exercise as early as you can).
PM me any time you need to talk...I can send you my numbers.
Take care and be gentle on yourself. This is not a race, this is a life long course you are beginning to navigate. You will have days when you are perfect and days when you eat too much and days when you wonder why you ever put yourself thru all this. But I promise it will be worth it in the long run. Once you start seeing results you will want to continue seeing them.
Take care,
Hugs,
Debi
Hey Jill~
No words of condemnation for you, just wishes that you take good care of yourself. You are the only person who can get yourself on track. It's better to do it now--it takes 30 days of continual 'doing' for something to become a habit--so you can claim it as yours.
Deb has great advice. I applaud her for it!
Good luck and God bless~

Here's my motivation.... I get my surgery scheduled tomorrow and with all hope, it'll be in the next two months. I keep hearing from everyone here that the first year is the "honeymooner" phase. That means, your band works its butt off for you the first year and you need to work y our butt off with it too!
At first, I didn't want to try losing weight before surgery... I was stubborn and sick of dieting. But after hearing this, I thought... I need to get into the groove NOW so that when surgery time comes, I will be at a top level of nutritional intake and physical output.
I bought a Gazelle, joined Weigh****chers again and have written out a list of the LapBand (for me) rules. I am working on an exercise plan but for now it's 20 minutes a day of any exercise that elevates my heart rate.
Doing it NOW will help you speed up weight loss!!! JOIN ME!
Make it a plan that will stick! I added tickers to my profile that track my fitness. Things like that help!
