OT My dog was killed, I went to ER

Yesterday my dog was attacked by the neighbors German Shepard. Needless to say a 7 lb Chihuahua was no match. We had to take her to the vet where we found out her back was broken and there was internal bleeding. She looked so sad, but I just held her and told her I loved her until my daughter was able to come to say goodbye. Then we had to put her to sleep to end her suffering. I have had that dog for over 7 years, and still can't believe she is gone. I ended up getting a severe headache later in the evening. The "worst headache I have ever had" kind. I went to Urgent Care, but they sent me over to ER right away. An MRI, multiple drugs, and several hours later, they determined it to be a very severe migraine, which I have never had. Luckily the Dr. was willing to ask what meds I was able to tolerate with my RNY, and was willing to prescribe liquid Lortab for me. I woke up this morning, head still hurts, and heart hurts more. Thank you for letting me vent.  RIP Angel.

Oooohh.  That's just aweful.  I'm so sorry that you had to have such a terrible day.  It takes a lot of courage to help them not suffer, and it is so hard on the heart, especially when it is so unexpected.

That is beyond sad, Nicole...  I'm so sorry - and I hope your neighbor takes this incident very seriously and keeps the German Shepard restrained from now on!  Who's to say it could never happen to a small child?  Very scary...   As hard as putting down a beloved pet is, you know in your heart you did the right thing.  Poor Angel... Given the stress of losing your dog, the migraine seems understandable.  I hope you're feeling better physically today, and that you don't suffer any repeats. HUGS for you & yours...

I am so sorry, losing a beloved pet can be hard, but at least you ended his suffering.  I agree with Darla that hopefully your neighbors have learned they need to keep their dog restrained.  I do hope your headache gets better, migranes are no fun at all!  Feel better (both head and heart) soon!
