Protein bars

I was talking to my girlfriend at work last night and asked her what she ate when she was losing fast.  She had RnY about 4 years ago.  I had RnY back on 10-30 so am about 5.5 months out. I don't have fridge access at work and the lunch bag I have right now is the equivalent of a paper sack  :-)  But this is another post  :-) We talked about shakes and bars and carrots and such.  She mentioned eating half a bar for each of my two breaks.  I told her I can easily eat a WHOLE bar in one sitting and I thought she was going to fall off her chair.  egad...  So then the thoughts are going through my head... have  I ruined my tool?!?! The bars I eat are the Atkin's advantage bars.  and yes, I can eat a whole one.  Is this not a good thing??? Thoughts and Ideas welcome!!!

Dear, dear Lori, isn't it crazy how paranoid we can be at the comments/reactions of others? If eating a whole Atkins bar was too much for you, your pouch would let you know.  And I'm guessing you don't wolf it down either, but take smaller bites (than you would have pre-op), and chew them thoroughly.

That having been said, I wouldn't suggest eating 2 whole protein bars a day, that might be too many calories (I'm not familiar with Atkins #'s...).  But as a supplement to assure you are getting your daily protein requirement met, I can't imagine having one whole bar is a big problem.  Just be sure you're getting your water, protein, calcium, etc... in. hugs!

Paranoid for sure  :) My weight loss seems to have slowed down some so I've been hunting to see what's up.  When she went all googly eyed at me I got nervous  lol Thanks!  I'm still trying to figure out proper portions of everything.  Been talking to folks and go to the doc this next week for my 6 month blood work and i"ll chat him up as well!  Stupid insurance won't pay for any more nut visits...  but they do let me call  :) Thanks!

I LOVE the Pure Protein bars.  Walmart is the cheapest.  My favorite is the double chocolate - tastes like a candy bar.  If you have issues with sugar alcohols, you may want to go easy.  1/2 a bar at first should fill you up.

Hey Hon!  I would say that if you eat 2 that you make sure your total calorie count for the day doesn't go over the 800 calorie mark (or whatever your program says for your appropriate stage).  And when in doubt call the nutritionist at your clinic! Hugs!
