I believe that as long as you renew it within a year you are ok.

Unfortunately I know this from recent experience.   My license expired in Aug....darn teenagers never give me the mail so I didn't realize it.    I got pulled over in Nov for a headlight being out....well I then found out my license had expired.   Thankfully the officer was great and just told me to get in on Mon and get it renewed.    I also was afraid I'd have to retake the test.   All I had to do was renew...pay the fee take the pic etc....    All should be fine for you.

I'm the worlds best procrastinator, and have had this happen several times....  I've never had any issues with it at all.  No extra charges.  Not even a new picture the last time.  They just used the old one.  I suppose tho, since there may be a significant weight change since the last one, they may retake the pic.  Did get a new # as MN is changing everyone's ID #'s for some unknown reason which meant I had to get new checks - the old one's had old license # on it!!  So there was THAT extra charge!!  Ugh....

Thanks everyone!  I stopped yesterday in Waseca on the way home and got a new license.   Anyway you should no longer put your license number on your checks.  If the store wants them, they can write it down....helps with identity theft I heard......
