Those 24 days Post Op
My WLS is scheduled for May 6th, 2008...and on May 30th my family and my parents fly out to California for a 4-day vacation. NOW ppl are giving me a bit of a hard time about going so soon after surgery. Trip was planned first and booked...but surgery is what I've been working for for 9-months and a shocker I was even approved. So I'm not really up for post-poning this either.
Is it doable? Am I going for too much?
Any advice 24 days post op and what life is like.

There are alot of variables like your age, your general health, how well you typically recovery from surgery, pain tolerance, that kind of thing...but if it was me, I wouldn't be going.
If you do go, check with your surgeon about DVT prevention while flying, what to do if you need medical help related to your bypass while you are in CA and push those fluids both on the plane and during your vacation. Good luck!

My grandmother passed away less than a week after my surgery. I traveled to southeast Kansas (about 12 hours by car) exactly 1 week post op. I didn't drive, and just took it easy... rested when i needed to and got out to walk around about every hour on the trip... I was fine. Have fun on your vaca!
