OT: I saw a flake!
Yes, I know - half of you are cussing the weather already (and the other half of you are going to be cussing me out for posting this - haha). LOL
But, I am not. Why? Because. Why bother?! Seriously, we live in Minnesota. We knew what the weather was like way back when. Plus I've seen snow in May before living here. My wedding day 11 years ago this May to be exact.
So, let's revisit...what was your favorite thing to do out in the snow when you were a child, or what do you enjoy about it now, or name a winter activity that you enjoy?
For me, it was ice skating at night when the lights were still on and it would start snowing. There was something about twirling around and the flake****ting your face ever so softly. That is and always will be my favorite memory from my childhood of winter.
Who's next?
Hi Amy!
I am neither cussing you or the weather! If anything, I applaud you for trying to be positive in this gray miserable weather. My line is: you can whine all you want, it just won't change the weather!
And just think back to the 'Big Snows of 1996': we had 12' snowbanks, and ice was still on the lakes on opening day of fishing season! (Up here, it's Victoria day Weekend, the weekend BEFORE Memorial weekend!)
So it ain't as bad as it seems!
My favourite memory? When my older kids were preschool, and going sledding with them and their dad. We had such great times!
And thanks, Amy, for being so optimistic!

Hey Amy,
Okay I must admit I was one of the complainers. I am so ready for spring. I am not from MN but I do liver here now, I need to suck it up and get over it. Like you said it is Minnesota afterall.
My favorite memory was sledding in our backyard, we had a great hill and my sister & I would have a blast.
Now I love watching my girls outside playing in the snow, either sledding or making adorable snow angels!!!
Have a great day!
I have come to Love snowmobiling this year and have to admit I wanted more. I'm bummed it wont stick around. I have to be crazy to even say those words.
When I was little all the kids in our neighborhood would build huge elaborate cave/snow forts. I know ,not safe but we all had so much fun plus we would kick the boys out and if they tried to sneak in we'd give em a face full of snow. TOUGH GIRLS !
My two favorite memories would be - A) building elaborate snow forts in the backyard, complete with individual rooms, furniture, even a snow toilet (no one used it, of course, but we shaped one in the "bathroom"!!) and B) sliding! We lived a couple of blocks from the elementary school, and it has a FANTASTIC hill in back! We'd get big bunches of kids to all lay our mini-boggans down together to form a huge mat, and all slide down together in a huge group!
Come to think of it, sliding (TUBING) is STILL my favorite winter activity! Probably because all it requires is a snow-covered hill, and GRAVITY! (grace is NOT my middle name...)
There was a darn funny snotcicle story from the Halloween Blizzard of '91, but I digress...
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
When I was little I loved just running around the neighborhood with my friends. We also had an awesome tubing hill right down the road so that was always fun, except for the part where I had to walk my BIG butt back up the hill!!!
My other favorite part of snowy days when I was little was when my mom or grandma had hot chocolate and homemade soup waiting for me!
