Trouble Spot-Need Advice
Hi everyone,
Life at almost 3 months post op is good! My weight loss is progressing, I'm pushing the water and working out like never before.
BUT.....I need some advice. One of my worst times of the day is dinner. Often I come home hungry and end up eating way to fast and then get sick. Before the surgery, dinner time was always a tough time, because I would snack, snack, snack while I was preparing food and utlimately overeat.
What can I do? I've tried putting the fork down, looking at the clock, but this doesn't seem to really help. Even if I have a healthy dinner pre-made and ready to go, I'm so hungry I'll scarf it down and feel awful afterwards.
Is it ok to snack about 4 pm? What are your suggestions?
Thanks for responding with whatever tips you have. Hugs and Kisses, Becky

Yes a small snack before... an hour ..... is a great idea. Your so hungry your ravenous and blow through dinner to fast and without a thought. A slider snack would be appropriate in this case ( yogurt, sf pudding) or a string cheese etc. If you go into dinner less hungry you will slow down... eat less and enjoy it. There are rules in place but we need to fine tune them as we progress to do whats "best" for us. Hope this helps...

I agree 100% with Linda. No matter what some folks say about the "sin" of snacking, you have to figure out what works best for you. This is not a "cookie cutter" lifestyle. A small snack of something nutritious a couple hours before dinner sounds like the solution here. Keep it small, nothing junky...and you'll be fine.
Congrats on your success!

Becky, I agree with what Linda said!! But what i have been doing that i have found to help with the hungry part is doing my workout prior to Dinner around the 4pm time. This releases a chemical reaction that has reduced my hunger thus allowing me to slow down chew my food and enjoy it.

Becky,
Like Troy I too work out after work, but prior to eating dinner. I have started having a small snack before I leave work so that it has enough time to settle before I work out and then I have the energy for my workout and when I get home I am not starving and can eat a reasonable amount. I hope this helps some and that you are able to find what works best for you. Congrats on your success so far!
