20 years

This summer we are having our 20 year class reunion and I don't know if I want to go.  OK, I want to but I know that people will be pointing and staring at me.  I only had a few really close friends in high school and I have seen a few over the years and they are stilll stuck up.  I went to one of there websites to see some pictures and a lot of them still hang out and party A LOT (or so it seems by the pictures).  I have grown up and have three kids, work and married and I don't' have time for all that.  My problem is if I go do I try and be the "happy, go lucky" girl and  try and talk and be friendly to everyone or just sit and socilize with my friends that I still keep in touch with?  I look nothing like I did at our 5 year and I haven't gone since so everyone would be talking about the weight thing.   Also after seening all these pictures last night they ALL are still skinny and running around in bathing suits that still woudn't fit around my ankle.  Maybe I'm reading too much into this.  I know I'm worring about nothing, I guess I have so many questions with a lot more unaswered questions. 

I say 'GO'..  Have a blast!  Dont sweat the small stuff.  You may be surprised..!! I protested my 20 class reunion only for the fact that it was held in downtown MPLS when I graduated from Bloomington Kennedy...!!  I know.. stupid protest, but I felt that there are plenty of places in Bloomington that could have accomodated and reapt the benefits of these being held in our city..  

I say GO.  Visit with the people you want to visit with, stay away from the ones you don't want to visit with.  Be yourself.  Don't worry about the girls that can still wear the teeny bikini's - gravity will catch up with them!  Feel great about yourself, look at how wonderful YOU look, how healthy YOU are, and how happy you are.  You don't need to tell anyone about the WLS unless you want to. I've never gone to a single reunion - I was tubby in high school and teased mercilessly (as I'm sure so many of us were), but after high school, I ballooned!  Now when my next one comes up in 4 years, I just may go and wear some slinky sexy dress that shows off my toned lower legs!!  I would hope that NO ONE would know who I was, and that some of the guys would regret not dating me back then...(I know, I know, I should just live for today). Anyway, I still say GO and have fun.  If they are catty, you can always leave and never go back again.

GO! My 25th is this summer and I have been looking forward to it, just so I could show up skinnier than I was in HS and stick my tongue out at all the guys in my class that used to call me "Hungry" (yes, that was my nickname - and it is under my Sr. picture in the yearbook).  You never know - you migh have a GREAT time!   As other's have said - talk to those you want to talk to, don't to those that you don't and just be your new, healthy self - don't worry about the skinny chicks that are sleek and tan - they will get theirs in time...Just wait 'til the 40th and see who is skinny & who isn't!

I'm not going to encourage or discourage because I have not gone to a single one of mine. Reason is simple - I moved on and the only classmate I keep in touch with is now my sister-in-law. I tried to keep in touch with several but they never reciprocated so I let it go. It may be funner at 20 years as I would think most would have gotten married at least once, or had a kid, traveled the world, whatever it may be by then, so I do hope to be able to go to that one. But I bet if you go, you will have a great time! And of course, we want to see pics.
