New Here!!!
Hello to one and all! I'm Tara and am new to OH! I've been a BIG girl my whole life, I tell people the only time I was a "normal" weight was at birth!
I started my battle in 2001. I battled HealthPartners for my VBG for close to a year. I wrote what I thought was a pretty good and pursuading letter but it didn't help. I finally had to write the Governor, the Lt. Govenor and other law makers for help. Thanks to now Govenor Tim Pawlenty, he wrote HealthPartners and got them to approve my surgeon and my surgery.
I had my VBG done with Dr. Rupp at United Hospital on June 20th 2002. I started out at 414 pounds. It went great for 3-4 years but I gained almost all of the weight back. I had Upper G.I.'s done and we found out that my pouch moved up and to the left and the pouch had expanded. Dr. Rupp said it wasn't my fault or his, it was just something that happened sometimes.
With the help of all my doctors, they all wrote letters to the insurance companies, my revision was approved the first time around. I started that adventure at 350 pounds. I had my revision Roux-En-Y on October 1st 2007 with Dr. Rupp at United Hospital again. As of March 20th I am down to 275 so that's a total loss of 139 pounds since 2002.
Sorry my post is so long, I just wanted to introduce myself. I also want to thank the Pre's and Post's that meet at the Eagan Byerly's on Saturday morning's for letting my partner and I crash their meeting last Saturday.
Peace Out,
Tara
