I'm back to make a 'go' at this again.
Hi All,
I started this process awhile back (probably 2 years by now) --- and kinda gave up on it.
I was working with Ginger at St. Paul Surgeons....
I thought I could do this weight loss thing myself......some of you perhaps have thought that as well. I just need some support because I am going to make a 'go' at this again.
The only thing I needed was documentation of a weight loss plan, and I refused to join/pay for another weight loss plan. I need to check with my insurance provider again to see what the requirements are as of 2008.
Julie
Welcome back!! I so understand the "I can do it myself"!! I was signed up to go to the informational at the UofM for June of 2004 and found out I was pregnant in Mar so I had to cancel. Then I actually lost my pregnancy weight (never did with my other two) and thought I CAN DO THIS!!! Well, I tried for 2 years and said enough and signed up in Aug of 2006 and had my WLS in Dec of 2006. With that time I realized the yo-yo and got more facts and was more at peace with my decision.
Here's to you getting back to your journey and may you have peace about what to do and things go smoothly!!

Hi Julie & welcome back!
No doubt probably most of us have hoped or thought we could do it ourselves - WLS is the most barbaric thing out there don't ya think?! But you know, once one understands obesity as a disease, you realize surgery is really about the only option for you.
I wish you all the best on your journey and I hope you find the answers you need this time around!
Also, please keep the coffee groups in mind on the weekends. Watch the boards for those postings. It is just a time for people to get together and have some great conversations about surgery and many other topics.
Be well & enjoy your weekend!
Hi Julie! Welcome Back! I want to wish you GREAT luck in your journey and know that we have ALL (well I think so anyway) thought that we should be able to lose the weight on our own. I lost 25 lbs before surgery and thought, well, if I can do this...why am I having surgery? Truth of the matter is, sure, but I wouldn't be able to keep it off. I'm SOOOO happy I had this surgery and would do it again in a minute!
Take care and let us know what happens. Come back often and know that we are all here to support you.
