APPROVED!! Can't even believe it!
I just got a letter today from my insurance company that they've finally approved me!!
To catch you all up, I have BC/BS of ILL. (PPO) and have been in the process since last August. After meeting with my "surgeon" I received a letter from my insurance co. stating they did not have enough info. and in a 2pg. letter told me all kinds of information I was not told back in August, like a website and very detailed insructions on how to find the actual policy myself (nice)! In it it stated a 5yr. history of morbid obesity was a requirement, which I wasn't able to meet at this time due to some previous (shortly lived) successful diet attempts I was shy the BMI requirement. And they never got the 6th and final Dietician report. In the meantime I got a lipid panel test which showed elevated cholesterol and my primary doc wrote a ltr. of support based on those lab results. But before all this could get to them, they sent me an actual denial letter at the end of February 2008.
My surgeon's office still Fax'd all this additional stuff in on 3/5/08 and today I received a letter of approval!!!!
I was truly shocked and not expecting them to approve me til I could meet the 5yr. requirement which would've been at least another year maybe two by which time my Dietician reports would've expired.
Sorry I got so long winded...I am just so beyond excited. Hoping to have surgery in May.
