Caffene

I know we cant have soda after surgery for over 6 weeks, but can we have caffene?  I am not a coffee drinker, but Crystal light makes a drink mix with caffene in it, I didnt realize it had caffene in it when I brought it, but I would like to try it.......

My dietician is fine with me having caffine, she always said to stay away from any beverage with carbonation, so you might want to check that.

That is what my dietician said, too.  I can't have any carbonated beverages ever.  Unless you get something stuck and want it to come up.  I do drink coffee and that was fine right after surgery.  I also drink sf tea without a problem. Best to always check with your surgeon's office first.  But I think you are fine.

Caffeine dehydrates you, so I wouldn't have it immediately after surgery - as you already have problems trying to get 64oz in.

Personally I would hold off on caffeine until you talk to your surgeon or dietician.  You are only a week out from surgery and you should be sure.  All programs are different, so check with yours.
