Hey Surgery Sis!  I would love to read it when you are done.  It also gives us a good excuse to get together!  Thanks for the positive vibes.

Kathi, it is SO NORMAL to not see the difference in our bodies - 'cuz we see ourselves every day in the mirror, so the change is harder to appreciate.  But if you have any before pictures, pull one of those bad boys out and compare it to a current picture.  Not the mirror, but a photograph.  For some reason, we can see in a picture what we can't see in the mirror.  Head games or not, it's hard to deny the differences you'll see! As for losing friends?  That's pretty hard.  But there's a good chance that some of them might be jealous - even if they don't have their own issues with weight, it's hard for some people to feel truly happy for us 'cuz the improvements in our bodies make them examine their own imperfections a little more closely, and even tho they may love us, the evil green monster may rear it's ugly head!  IMHO, true friends will get over it and still be our friends.  People who no longer like us didn't truly love us anyway, and they are better off let go.  You did this WLS thing to improve your health and the quality of your life.  Anyone who can't appreciate that really shouldn't be allowed to bring you down. You ARE coming to Baker on the 29th, right?

Hi Kathi.....I so know how you feel. I still don't see myself thin. I too have lost over 100 pounds...all I see is the old me...just a little smaller. I hope my head catches up soon this is depressing! You are doing great...keep up the good job!! We are all here anytime you need to chat! Hugs....connie d

For me, I was at the "it's no longer about me" stage.  I'm not sure if that's remotely where you're at here.  However, the "I still see fat Kathi" concerns me.  I sometimes compare it to the anerexic that doesn't see how skinny she is.  Take a picture of yourself to start with.  Then get it developed/printed. If that doesn't convince you enough, please go to a counselor.  They did tummy surgery, not brain.  At 3+ years out, I feel I can tell you that it's very important to try to keep the head "happy" as much as possible as we go through this journey.  It is often our heads that made us obese in the first place.   Don't be hard on yourself.  Seek some external options and go forward with those.  Good luck too.
