Rash on tummy and surgery THIS Tues.
Did any of you happen to have a rash when you went into surgery? I seem to have a heat rash that you to be under my breast, but on my tummy and now it is on both sides of my belly button. I am really trying to be postiitive and know it will be fine, but I am concerned. This has never happened to me and I woke up with it on sat. morning. Any advice from people who did have surgery with a "overweight person resulted heat rash"?

They're not open sores or anything like that right? If not then more than likely you will be fine and it won't cancel your surgery. Even some small open wounds won't delay surgery, just depends on where. Are you taking any benadryl? I know when I got a rash from trying on clothes I took benadryl and it cleared it right up. I don't know if it would work for heat rash, but it might be worth a try.

It's sure great to hear from someone who actually works in the OR room! No they are not open. I did take clariton yesterday and today. I'm thinking I should not take anything tomorrow becasue I am on my clear diet day and I believe benedryl has something in it I can't have before surgery???? Thanks so very much.....and it sure is great that you are able to think clearly as you are in this exciting dating adventure! Tee Hee

That is such a bummer! Keep in mind I have no medical training whatsoever but could it be stress/nerves?
I will have Buddy do a little anti rashie dance for you and hopefully that will help.
Hang in there, in 48 hours you will be on the losers bench and you better saving me a seat in the front row.

Hijack Kris.
How's that little Buddy doing? Are you bonding?
Can't wait to see you soon. . .
The LOSER'S BENCH is such a happy bench! Nothing like the one I used to be destined to, when I was the last one picked on the team. (always)
LINDA, LISA and NAOMI welcome!!!
Kris, You're next!
I'm not leaving it. It feels soooo right. Warning up your spots. . .
Yeah!

I just am concerned it may effect my surgery date. :O( I am really hoping it won't. Between Kris's kitty Buddy doing an anti-rash dance and Alayna's good news, I am feeling a bit better. It's just a big bummer....dang.....trying to stay positive, happy and I am excited!!!
Thanks!

Okay -- it's getting worse instead of better so call Dorothy or Dave at Svendsen office. Double check with them -- they may have a suggestion -- not a cancellation. (P.S. --- They read these posts any way so they know you have a rash so you might as well call and get the answer.) It is a rash and not an infection so it shouldn't change your surgery but better to know now instead of tomorrow (after the bowel prep)!!!
I still think it is stress related and you are now stressing more and it got worse. Benadryl has different ingredients than clariton so see if you can take a couple of doses to see if it clears up. They have a liquid formula in the kids area so you can probably take it -- just more of it.
Keep us posted -- BUT CALL THE CLINIC this morning so you can do something today before it may be too late. After surgery you are on liquid antibiotics and they can give you benadryl right away so it won't get worse after surgery any way.
XXOO -- I'll be swinging a chicken for you but let us know what the clinic said......
