OT: Steps, Bowls, and Bruises

You're looking at the title and going "huh, what is she talking about", right? I know, but I'm just not good at titles for posts all the time. Anyhooooo...earlier today my 4-yr. old decided to have his cereal (dry) in a bowl while sitting on the steps and a little while later, I was heading downstairs not looking down and wham-o! I stepped on that dish and down the flight of stairs I went. All I know is I landed at the bottom in a heap and I was hurt. My arm, my leg, my back, my butt - man everything felt bruised. But I got up and kept going with my day as I need to get my sister to the airport. Didn't want her to be late for Mazatlan! As the day progressed, my back was really feeling sore. Finally got home around 6 and had DH look at it and sure enough, I am bruised down to my butt! Dang it. So sore. And then the headache started in and I still can't kick that. All this from the child leaving the bowl on the step. aarrgghh...but lesson learned and our house now has the "nothing on the stairs" rule. I did think about this today and how it could possibly relate to WLS and all I can say is I'm glad I still had my padding today! Anybody have any pain meds left they wanna sell? haha Just kidding!

Oh Amy...I am sorry you got hurt. Put some ice on the bruised areas..... that will help. Hope you don't have to do those steps alot tomorrow.....those bruises always feel worse the second day. I worry more about falling now too....I have lost my padding! Take care sweetie....hugs......connie d

HI Amy~ I'm sorry to hear that you're in so much pain.  Do you have access to a hot tub? A good hot soak might do you good.  Or maybe a sitting against a cold pack?  Maybe you could do the bathing suit snow angel--lots of snow exposure there!  (From the Larsmont weekend)   (I can never remember if it's hot or cold for pain and bruising.) Anyway--I guess this is one time that it's a good thing you haven't had surgery yet? Looking for a positive... I just want you to know how much I enjoy your posts. You are so insightful! Thanks for sharing your wisdom! ((HUG)) **SUE**

I have fallen morbidly obese, and I have fallen as I am today (whatever title you wish to give me).  In my humble opinion?  MO, it hurt like the devil, with all that gross tonnage adding to the gravity of it all!  And getting up was much more of a struggle!  Falling 130+ lbs lighter?  Well, the landing doesn't hurt nearly as much, and getting back up kinda happens before you even realize you were down!  But the bonies hurt more, the bruises are wicked, and there's only one conclusion to draw.

Falling, in general, sucks.  But I'd rather fall without all the padding, 'cuz it's not nearly as embarassing - even when you do it in dookey!

Connie was right, day 2 was worse. I slept decent last night though which helped for today I'm sure. Now hopefully my ankle recovers quickly and I should feel much better. Thanks all for the well wishes.
