I am still having a bit of trouble getting everything in I need to get in, in a day.  I feel like my water glass doesnt even ever get empty.  I take sips all day long, dont want to drink too much afraid it will hurt.  I am kind of hungry I think, I have had pudding 1 x, cheese soup 2 x's, and boost 1 x.  Since I have been home.  They all were tolerated ok.  I am on no pain meds since the one's the hospital gave me gag me so much.  There really is no pain anyway.  I took the liquid tylenol yesterday, kept that in ok.  But only took it once.  I am not sure it made a big difference anyway.  I still have quite a bit of pain, gas  I am sure on the upper left side of my tummy area.  Try to walk around the house, getting kind of boring, might go out later to the store......maybe that will help.  Can I drink more water without worrying about getting sick if its not after my meals?

Don't be afraid of the water. Just try to drink a little more as you can. I was able to drink water fine the only thing I felt was a little pressure like I was to full and after a few seconds it would go away. Water pass through alot faster than food. Although everyone has different reactions to water. You will know when you pushed it too much.

Thanks!  I seem to do alot of burping more too.  But I am working on it.  I may go to the store later and buy some containers and stuff for that recipe with the baked ricotta cheese.  I am thinking I may try to go to something like that this weekend.........getting sick of just soup, stuff like that, just chew chew chew correct?

Lucky you, you can burp!  Almost 4 months out and I still can't.   Is your surgeon allowing solids already.  I realize you have a different program than me, but I just want you to be safe, so I'm questioning.  Don't push too hard, I know the liquids suck, but soon it will just be a bad memory.  I'm sitting here trying to remember some of the details from that time, and I can't.  Remember that little pouchy is new and raw and very swollen, and that the nerves haven't regenerated yet so you aren't feeling things like you will one day again.

Very ture, thanks for the advice......I am supposed to try things like cottage cheese, scrambled egg, 1/2 pc. of toast etc. starting on Monday.  The ricotta bake is softer than all of those, more like pudding consistency I would guess, though I have not made it yet.  I think trying toast would be the hardest.........how is toast.....?  I am not sure if I will go anywhere yet or not.  Its beauty night at church tonight, I may go to that and get my hair colored before I start to loose it, it has so much grey in it.  Trying to decide if I should get highlights or just a color.....highlights may help hide the grey abit...LOL  Dont know yet.

I'm with Christi on what you can eat.  I wasn't eating that soon.  I was clear liquids for the first week, than went on to full liquids.    All I can say is just be careful.  I have to be honest, I found water hard to consume the full amount each day.  Even in my 3rd month.  I had to push the drinking.  It wasn't until last week that I started managing 64oz per day.   Julie

Makes me feel better about the water for sure!  I never had such a problem before.....I was an avid diet pepsi fan in the morning and diet root beer at night.....dont miss those as much as I thought I would.  I will wait until Monday to make my puree'd dish, which is the lowest dysphasia phase there is after pudding thick liquids.  Mostly the dysphasia diets are used by people in long term living facilities.....and it is for people with swallowing or chewing problems.  I was told to start the soft solids such as eggs, toast, cottage cheese, to make sure I chew my food and eat very slowly. Anywho, I think getting the water in is the hardest!  I burp, but I feel like I dont burp enough, almost like I have heart burn.  BUT NO SIGNS OF INFECTION!  WOOHOOO!  I was more scared of that with anything, so far so good!  Thanks for the advice!  God Bless!

Hi ....please don't worry so much. Your tummy will be fine with more water. Water is good for you for so many reasons. Keep trying...you aren't very far out yet...not even a week. Things will settle down.....your pouch is just sensitive yet. Remember you had your insides rearranged. There will be plenty of gas too. Be patient....all is well. I was on liquids for 4 weeks after my surgery...doctors orders!! That was so we healed properly and didn't throw up and such. Keep walking...the gas will pass....no pun intended. Hope you have a good weekend. We are here if you need us. Hugs, connie d

Water intake should be around 64 oz. But if you can get more in that's great. I know Doctors are different, I was on LD for 3 weeks, pureed the 4th week and soft foods the 5th week. Be really careful on what you put in your mouth. I know it's boring but remember this is a life long journey. You can have sugar free popscicles and they count towards your water. I ate them when I felt hungry. Good luck, Kelly
