Did anyone experience after surgery issues with their skin?  It seems like the first 3 to 4 weeks after surgery I had flawless skin and now the past 2 weeks my skin is so itchy and blotchy.   I've been using moisturizer to help with the dry part but I have no idea what is causing me to wake up with hive like blotches over my face and neck every morning.  The only thing different that I can think of is obvisously my diet has changed.  Anyone else experience this????

I am still experiencing dry itchy shin and rashes ever since surgery. It's been on my arms and sometimes my face. I have been using Eucerin Cream it works the best.

My skin got very dry after surgery, but it seems to be tolerable if I use lotion regularly, and it seems to be getting a little better as time passes.  However, you mention that you are having what appears to be hives, and I have to wonder if you have developed a new allergy to something.  Anybody can develop a new allergy at any time in their life.  Perhaps you are reacting to protein shakes, or vitamins (I get rashy all over face and upper body if there is nickel in my supplements)?  Maybe even your laundry detergent?  So many possibilities.  I did have a rashy reaction to something from surgery that lasted for about 3-4 weeks after I got home from hospital, it only appeared on my torso, back and front.  Wouldn't be a bad idea to call your surgeons office.

Interesting you mentioned laundry deterget that could be the reason too we just switched to a different brand when I started feeling all itchy.  I thought maybe it could also be the weather

Could also have something to do with all the hormones running rampant in your body - fat stores hormones, and as we lose fat, the hormones kinda wreak havoc for a while.  Just a thought...

You've gotten great advice already!  My .02 cents would be that if it persists to get it checked out!!  I'm no doc but sounds allergieish!  Hang in there and keep us updated!!! Hugs

You might want to also think of what kind of protein you are using. I just seen on the nutrition board that some have whey allergies and get itchy, so they have to drink a different kind of protein suppl. Good Luck.
