OT: Anyone flown lately....
Im confused with the different things mentioned as far as carry on, how many bags, if checking, how many bags.. when there is an extra charge....? I know.. IM A DORK..
My sister and I are flying to FL at the end of the month to spend some time with our mom. Shes dealing with alot these days and long story short, due to blot clots and circulation issues, her lower leg had to be amputated. Lots of emotions running amuck everywhere... If you have a spare prayer for my mom, that would be great...
ANYWOOO.. I would like to try to get away with not checking luggage however I want to bring the laptop. I know that the laptop is 1 piece as a carry on.. Can you have 2..? Yep.. I AM and Dork.. Can you tell I dont get out much..? I decided that I would do a little tanning.. Only did 7 minutes and I burnt...! Call me pasty..!!
I wish you all a great day!!

When I went out to San Fran in January, I think we had more carry on luggage that the rest of the plane combined. You shouldn't have a problem with both the laptop and another suitcase. Just make sure that the laptop bag isn't 10 times bigger than the other carry on. They might not appreciate it if you have both of those things and a purse though.
However, the rules change with each airline, so you may want to call them to clarify their specific rules.

HI Dana. I fly almost every week for work. You can have 2 carry-on's - usually a purse or briefcase and the small suitcase that fits inside the overhead bit (they're about 21" tall). If your laptop is in your briefcase or suitcase pocket, you should be fine. Just remember the little baggie with all your lotions & creams. Have a great trip!
Dana,
What i do is I have a small suitcase (on rollers) and my laptop and some other carry on stuff fit nicely in it. Remember when you go thru security you have to remove your laptop from what you have it in, just to go thru security. If you have any lay overs, could be a hassle carting around a couple of bags. That is why I like my bag on rollers. If you have adirect flight the flight will be a bit longer and you may wnat to use your laptop in flight, but usually I just keep it in the overhead storage.
Remeber your liquids that you wnat to carry on in a 1 quart storage bag and no more than 3 oz containers are allowed on board.
As for checking more than one bag, some airlines started last month charging a substanchal (sp) fee for additional.
Hope that helps...
Oh and of course, prayers going out for your mom...hope it all works out for her and you!!

Thanks Carol.. We do have a direct 3 hour flight so that will be nice.. I was definately thinking about bringing a movie or two with, but not sure.. I had planned on search for a smaller suitcase with wheels cuz I think the smallest one we got is too big.. Jen is home this week for spring break so I think I will round her up and check out Target..

Shoot! There are a couple of great stores in Albertville I might have steered you toward on Saturday, had I known! We got a GREAT duffle for Bailey that has wheels and a handle - it's small enough to carry on, but really roomy for a weeks' worth of stuff! And I think I got it for $25!
If you go to your airline's website, they'll let you know what their specific restrictions are.
And yes, your mother is certainly in my prayers, as are you and your whole family! Amputation has to be rough...
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Thanks Darla ~ THATS exactly what I am looking for.. A duffle type with wheels.. Gonna take Jen to Target to get her discount tonight.. :-)..
Thanks for the prayers for my mom.. I had thought maybe to share on Saturday when I was in MG, however I was so excited and happy to see everyone who was excited and happy.. Didnt feel like bringing anyone down.
UUUMMM Maybe I head out to Albertville if I dont find what I am looking for at the Target...
