Just curious, how long were you on a liquid diet AFTER surgery? How long after surgery did you wait before trying caffine? Thanks to all!! ~Jodi~

Hello Jodi, I personally was supposed to be on it for two weeks but I had to start pureed stage at about a week and a half out with my doctors okay because I was getting so week from not being able to do the protein shake or protein beverages.  I would check with your program to see because it can be different for one program to another, sorry if this didn't help you much. I am following my doctor's orders, he has me on a full liquid diet now, so I am able to have protien shakes, yogurt, creamed (strained) soup and pudding, so I am feeling ok. I was only asking because I was talking to my sister and she had surgery in November with a different doctor and she went to pureed diet after only 3 days...so I was just curious on how different everyone else's orders were. ~Jodi~

In all honesty you should avoid caffeine all together.  It is very hard on your stomach. Remember we have "baby" pouches and they are easy to upset.  I was on liquid for 2 weeks

Jodi, I've noticed every Doctor is different. I was on LD for 3 weeks, pureed for the 4th week and soft foods the 5th week. Regular food after that. I have stayed away from caffine, they don't want you to have it as it causes hunger. I buy decaf coffee, and decaf sf ice tea.  Kelly

Talk to 10 different doctors and you'll get 10 different answers.  I was on the clear LD for 3 days prior to surgery and 1 week after and then to clear liquids and pree for 3 weeks.  I was ok's for coffee at 4 weeks if I make sure I drink all of my water. Bonnie
