Now what? (Another Newbie)

I've been on OH quite a bit in the past couple weeks, but have been WAY to shy to say hello to everyone before.  But here I am giving a big "HELLO!" and want to let everyone know how much I love seeing how supportive everyone is here.  It's been great to read. But now I have a question...  I have done all my appointments, been approved for surgery and have a surgery date of April 11th set.  But what do I do now??  I have the couple little things of setting up my physical and preparing for the liquid diet but I feel at a loss of what to do now. Any thoughts or advice for someone that is impatient  for her day to come?

Thanks!

Welcome!

Yes the waiting is hard! I have my surgery date set too - for March 31 and I am playing the waiting game too.

If you get a chance - try to catch of the groups at coffee on saturday a.m. - we would love to meet you in person and welcome you again to the OH family.

Best wishes on your surgery!

Linda

Hi!  Welcome and congrats.  The best way to get to know people on this board is to just jump right in.  Your question was, "what do I do now?"  Practice, practice, practice.  Make sure you are adopting all those lifestyle changes that will become necessary after surgery.  For example, don't eat with your meals, chew, chew, chew, and be mindful of when and why you are eating and of what you are eating.  Get your affairs in order.  Not because something could go wrong, but because you probably won't feel like doing much, and it's nice to have the bills prepaid so you don't have to worry about them while you are recovering and learning. You'll be great!

Welcome to the boards!  Congrats on the approval and the date!  Now is the time to practice, clean out the cupboards, get a list of post op foods, clean the house extra well so that ya don't have much to do post op while you recover, and such.  Come on here ask questions, get to know people and GO TO a coffee!!! Meeting them face to face is sooooo awesome!  Keep yourself busy and time passes quite quickly!  Hope to see ya around more!  Hugs!

Thank you for the welcome messages Linda, Christi and Sandi!  They are much appreciated! When is the next coffee date?  I would love to go out and meet everyone!

I try to remember the whole chew, chew, chew process but I get distracted easily.  But I promise I'm trying to work on it.  I have started getting all my affairs in order so that seems to be going along well although it does feel like the list is just getting longer. Thanks for your thoughts and advice.  I will keep working on everything and hope the time flies!

Welcome Newbie!!! I would suggest making a list. List of the liquids you will need for the liquid diet, vitamins you will need to purchase, and basically a list of lists. For me, by creating lists, I felt like I was accomplishing things rather than waiting for time to pass.

Congrats on your approval and surgery date.
