I had an appointment with the nutritonists today to go over my liquid diet and what I give my body nutritionaly after surgery. (I can't really call it eating for the first month.) Thanks to all of you, I could have told her everything.  Well, not really, but truly.....I learn so much on this board.  Thanks for all the great advice you all give everyone.  We all learn from reading all the posts!   Liquid diet starts THIS sat.  WHOO HOO!  I can't get into that surgery room soon enough!!!   I wanna join you folks on the other side.  I can't wait!   I've cleaned my closet, bagged clothes in all the different sizes and started a swapkins bag.  I bought little rubbermaid containers today and Gas X.  Does this help.. I do NOT want to deal with the bad gas smell issues.  If you have other hints, let me know.  :O)     I could ramble on forever here....I need our Sat. coffee to be here tomorrow!   Lisa Joy

Wow Lisa, your day is getting closer!!! So happy for you.

Gas X - for smell? Really? I never knew that. See - we all learn something! I have heard of post-ops taking Devrom.  This takes the odor out of farts & poo's. It's OTC or you can order online. And how perfect that your LD starts on a coffee day?! yippee!!! Go LisaJoy!

Maybe Gas X does nothing?  I don't know?  It sounded like it should do something......okay...thanks to you, I'm buying Devrom...just incase!   I guess you could say enough posts have scared me in that area.  In fact, I'm wondering how these WLS sleepovers are going in the area of toots...... OH MY!  Tee, hee

Oh heck, Lisa Joy~ The fun part of WLS is being to toy with people after you let rip. I personally carried a tiny can of Glade so I could spray after me when a SBD (silent but deadly) escaped.  I would causally but hurriedly leave the area.  (And watch people gasp and cover their faces...) Poor Quin--he suffers in silence.  I just tell him that if I didn't fart I'd blow up.  After almost 3 years, gassing is quite the problem it used to be.  Just depends on the food...

Hi Lisa, Don't freak out too much about gas.  I'm 5 years out and I really don't have any more gas than before surgery.  It will depend on what you eat and how you handle things.  The biggest gas problem I had post surgery was when I was using Benefiber to help with constipation.  Oh my god, I nearly blew the roof off.  Once I determined it was the Benefiber and eliminated it, I was quiet again.  I'll have spells now and again, but nothing long term and nothing any worse than my husband! Gas-X will help move gas out but won't help with the stink...Devrom will help with that - I have that in my cupboard but honestly haven't used it in years.  Everyone is different....so just wait and see! Good Luck!

I haven't had the gas problems and it was a HUGE concern of mine.  I've been married 22 years and my husband has NEVER heard me fart.  I was sooooo paranoid about this one thing for nothing.....Thank Goodness!!! You are soooo prepared and glad we could help you along the way!!!! XXOO
