? for the women

I am having a pretty miserable period. My first few right after surgery weren't too bad but this one has lasted longer than a week now and I even called in sick to work on Friday. I am so bloated and uncomfortable and crampy. I seem to recall the Dr I saw for my follow up saying that women with PCOS will sometimes not have bad periods until they start ovulating after major weightloss. Or I think that's how it went. Maybe I am just finally ovulating and now my periods are going to be more miserable? This is so uncomfortable. I have had 64oz of liquids already today and have taken some gasX thinking the crampy feelings are gas, that's how my gas is now post-op. It seemed to help momentarily. Did anyone else have ok periods right after surgery and then they got worse as you got further out and the more weight you lost? Thanks!!

Mine are now longer and much much heavier.  And its been 4 yrs for me!  I have to double up on the iron during this time otherwise I can get pretty weak. And even though my tubes are tied I am contemplating going on the pill to help with it.

I heard there is a birth control pill that you can take where you won't get your period. I had my tubes tied, but if mine continues to get worse, that may be the route I take.

Good luck....Kelly See you at MG coffee

I had the IUD ring Mirena put in, as my periods were wonky, what with being in perimenopause and after effects of WLS.  Works like a charm (after the settling-in time of a few months.)  I don't even spot, much less bleed like a stuck pig.

"... bleed like a stuck pig."   I LOVE YOU, SWEETSUE!!!   roflmao....   And if I might add my 2 cents, THANK GOD FOR MY HYSTERICALECTOMY!!!  I had such horrific periods before then, I know I'd already used up my cosmic lifetime supply of feminine products.  If I had those hideous monthlies and then they got WORSE following WLS?  The land sharks would be trailing me everywhere...

Hey Darla~     Know whut I REALLY hate?   Females getting the bad rap over stuff---like 'hysteria',  'hysterectomy',  'hernia' (SHOULD be 'hisnia')  and I'm positive we gals could come up with a legion more of such words. (I'm once again having a 'senior moment' so my vocabulary is minute.) And FYI---in cases where 'trained' or 'humanized' bears attacked women, it was always when the women were menstruating. (That's another word that needs to be changed!)  My hubby used to  call feminine hygiene pads 'man hole covers'. Have a great day, Darlin'!

Thanks Kelly, that'd be great but I already had a 6yr break from my period from 18-24 when I was on Depo. I can't do anything like that again according to my Dr. I started NuvaRing with my last period and yesterday was the day to take it out and I am to have my period this week, well it didn't wait. It started last week and is still going. I am so bloated. :( I have been sitting here with a ho****er bottle on my tummy and that is helping with the cramps but I don't know what to do about the bloating and such. Any suggestions anyone?

I'd say call your ob/gyn.  If it started before you even took out the ring, something might be up.
